Mongolian jungyo under way

Asashouryuu came down the hanamichi for his dohyo-iri holding his two year old son. While he was doing the dohyo-iri, Asasekiryuu, who was tsuyu-haraing, held the boy in his hand. Now, THAT'S a picture I'd like to see..

Asa had some important guests dohyo-side -Ms. Hosoki the mumbo-jumbo lady and Dr. Honda the dickhead remover.

You mean Asashoryu paid for his guests - both Hosoki and Honda have enough money to buy a few city blocks in Ulaanbaator...

And if I may make a political comment for what Dr Honda does professionally, you of all people want to give him a kinder and gentler cut as some unsuspecting folks here may imagine him to be some kind of monster. But then again he hasn't done that to Asashoryu.

I guess Asashoryu winning the second day is given and Hakuho and Asashoryu battling for the overall yusho....

You know what I really meant to say was that Asashoryu would get so inspired that he would bushwhack everyone out to win the yusho on Day 2 so he can be the champion of Mongolia.

Nothing is determined and the whole jungyo is still a serious tournament as all jungyo and hana-zumo tournaments were as you indicated.

I must have been tempted by the dark side to suggest otherwise.

Baruto invited Mongolian Olympic medalists to Japan

During the continuing celebration of Olympic success in UB, Estonian sumo wrestler Baruto and Mongolian Sanchirold came together and expressed their congratulations. Kyokshuzan Batbayar was translating. Baruto even invited them to visit Japan to watch sumo. He said he'll find seats in front row for them :)

Is anyone able to identify all Mongolian Rikishi in this picture?

I recognized some familiar faces (Hoshizakura, Daiyubu, Hoshikaze) but even with the help of the great Sumo DB, I wasn't able to connect names to persons.

It is a custom to bring in a baby in the dohyo-iri during jungyo. Nothing special.

Tokitenkuu was decorated today by the President. The problem was he had to be in two places at one time. The jungyo itself, and the ceremony. So he borrowed Asashouryuu's car, and was seen driving on the wrong side of the street to avoid traffic. "I didn't know what the heck was going on..", he exclaimed.

Edit: He won the jun yusho today, after many hard fought bouts.

Asashouryuu just won the tournament-he won day 2 and then the uber-match against Hakuhou, which was well fought, went from side to side, and you never knew who was going to win.. Saw it on the very choppy live feed. Took off the elbow supporter for the prize ceremony and seems to have lost some weight. Look out.

he looks lost weight. Mongol jungyo meant a lot to him. I think he really wanted to show himself to mongolians.
