Kintamayama Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) Asashouryuu came down the hanamichi for his dohyo-iri holding his two year old son. While he was doing the dohyo-iri, Asasekiryuu, who was tsuyu-haraing, held the boy in his hand. Now, THAT'S a picture I'd like to see.. Asa had some important guests dohyo-side -Ms. Hosoki the mumbo-jumbo lady and Dr. Honda the dickhead remover. Asa fed by Ms. Hosoki: Edited August 28, 2008 by Kintamayama
Jonosuke Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 You mean Asashoryu paid for his guests - both Hosoki and Honda have enough money to buy a few city blocks in Ulaanbaator... And if I may make a political comment for what Dr Honda does professionally, you of all people want to give him a kinder and gentler cut as some unsuspecting folks here may imagine him to be some kind of monster. But then again he hasn't done that to Asashoryu. I guess Asashoryu winning the second day is given and Hakuho and Asashoryu battling for the overall yusho....
kaiguma Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 It really bothers me that you all act as if the whole thing is scripted. So jaded, it really takes the joy out of a serious tournament.... (I am not worthy...)

But then again he hasn't done that to Asashoryu. Technically and verbally, it's what he does.. And "a gentler cut" is one of the better puns I have read. I do apologize however, for leading into a pointless banter.
kaiguma Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) Looks like Johnofuji's guess is correct: East Side Repruhzent! (insert chest-thump emote...) Edited August 27, 2008 by kaiguma
Jonosuke Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 It really bothers me that you all act as if the whole thing is scripted. So jaded, it really takes the joy out of a serious tournament.... Sorry about my last post. You know what I really meant to say was that Asashoryu would get so inspired that he would bushwhack everyone out to win the yusho on Day 2 so he can be the champion of Mongolia. Nothing is determined and the whole jungyo is still a serious tournament as all jungyo and hana-zumo tournaments were as you indicated. I must have been tempted by the dark side to suggest otherwise.
kaiguma Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I'm sorry then I misunderstood you. I think what will be so great is that he will do the bushwacking with only one good arm! I mean, presumably, he will do so (I am not worthy...)

Dagvaa Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 http://www.mongolnews.mn/unuudur.php?n=30867 Baruto invited Mongolian Olympic medalists to Japan During the continuing celebration of Olympic success in UB, Estonian sumo wrestler Baruto and Mongolian Sanchirold came together and expressed their congratulations. Kyokshuzan Batbayar was translating. Baruto even invited them to visit Japan to watch sumo. He said he'll find seats in front row for them :)
Raishu Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Some new contents on the sumo-webpaper.My special sports reporter :-P Enkhbat Batmunkh (former Kykutenzan) made some pics from the jungyo backstage and on the dohyo. See them here: Mongolian jungyo Thanks for these nice pictures!! (I am not worthy...) Is anyone able to identify all Mongolian Rikishi in this picture? I recognized some familiar faces (Hoshizakura, Daiyubu, Hoshikaze) but even with the help of the great Sumo DB, I wasn't able to connect names to persons.

Murakami Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Watch the jungyo live, right now! www.tv9.mn 2nd button from the main menu and then select 4th sub-button. If not for my hectic work schedule, I'd be there. PS: forgot to say, you need a real player to view. or try this rtsp://67.207.78.22:554/broadcast/tv9.rm Edited August 28, 2008 by Murakami

sekihiryu Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Murakami -thanks for the heads up! managed to watch it just now, though it was cutting in and out. Ama carried a baby onto the dohyo iri - a relatives child?
Dagvaa Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Ama carried a baby onto the dohyo iri - a relatives child? yes I am wondering too, whose baby is it? Maybe Asashoryu's? where is mom? or is someone playing mongolian psych. In Mongolian wrestling , during Naadam , you can see many kids on national wrestling outfit, symbolic, more human, such kids bring smiles all the time Edited August 28, 2008 by Dagvaa
Kintamayama Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 "If you say it's natural I won it, it's natural. My cold will disappear soon", said Hakuhou after winning day 1. Hakuhou and the trophy:

Kintamayama Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Tokitenkuu was decorated today by the President. The problem was he had to be in two places at one time. The jungyo itself, and the ceremony. So he borrowed Asashouryuu's car, and was seen driving on the wrong side of the street to avoid traffic. "I didn't know what the heck was going on..", he exclaimed. Edit: He won the jun yusho today, after many hard fought bouts. Heavy Medal: Edited August 28, 2008 by Kintamayama
Kintamayama Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 (edited) Asashouryuu just won the tournament-he won day 2 and then the uber-match against Hakuhou, which was well fought, went from side to side, and you never knew who was going to win.. Saw it on the very choppy live feed. Took off the elbow supporter for the prize ceremony and seems to have lost some weight. Look out. Edited August 28, 2008 by Kintamayama
Murakami Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Did you see that Asa was very emotional. He is a wreck. He almost cried during the closing ceremony when saying a farewell to the audience.
