Zentoryu Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 This was an odd banzuke to put together. There was a lot of very good records (14 Double digit win records in Makuuchi alone) and a lot of very bad records with very little middle ground. This produced some log jams at the top of Makuuchi, the top of Juryo and near the middle of the Makushita rankings. As far as the Ozeki were concerned, Heruwejima takes over the O1e slot while Dimitri drops to O1w and will be kadoban next basho. Doitsuyama achieved the 10 wins neccessary for immediate re-promotion to Ozeki and Sukubidubidu can join him there if he picks up a minimum of 9 wins next basho. Akemisamaru will need 10 wins to regain the Ozeki rank he lost during Nagoya. Now for some banzuke notes: Juryo to Makuuchi: Hironoumi returns to Makuuchi after spending the last 5 tournaments in Juryo. Takanosushi debuts after 10 basho spent in Juryo and the lower divisions. Susamajiiraion returns to Makuuchi after one basho in Juryo. Makushita to Juryo: Terarno debuts after 20 basho spent in the lower divisions. Fatakiyama debuts after 13 basho from Hatsu Dohyo. Toratorii debuts after 13 basho from Hatsu Dohyo. Misisko returns to Juryo after spending the last 5 basho in the lower divisions, including a pair of tournaments in Jonokuchi. Crall makes his/her Juryo debut after only 4 basho spent in the lower divisions. This is the second fatest rise from Jonokuchi to Juryo in the history of RotoSumo, behind only Gusoyama, who made it in three tournaments. Kaiguma debuts after spending 12 basho in the lower divisions. Seki Haruaki returns to Juryo after a one basho stint in Makushita. So without further ado, here is your banzuke for Aki 2008... Kofuji Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I'm a little surprised to see the shikona Sunibono active on the banzuke. The Sunibono that played other games like BenchSumo passed away a basho or two ago. Warm regards, Kofuji

I just noticed it when I entered the Superbanzuke data, and found Takashoryu (who has retired a while ago) in the midst of Makuuchi.
Asashosakari Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 The banzuke posted on the rotosumo.sumogames.com pages is not the same as the one posted by Zentoryu here. I just noticed it when I entered the Superbanzuke data, and found Takashoryu (who has retired a while ago) in the midst of Makuuchi. The one on the site appears to be the Aki 2007 banzuke.
Zentoryu Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 Yes, the banzuke at the sight is incorrect. I retired Sunibono as soon as I found out he had passed away. The banzuke at the sight also has four Ozeki listed on it, when there are only three currently. The banzuke found above in this thread is the correct one.
Harry Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 The banzuke on the server says it is the right date but it is quite old. I've played for a few bashos now and I'm not on it so I don't know how old it is.
Kofuji Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 OK ... I don't know what's going on ... I know I cut and pasted a banzuke from Sumo Forum ... I thought this one ... to a text file on the server so I could enter it ... That makes about 3 hours wasted yesterday ... hope the BenchSumo one is at least correct. Kofuji
Jejima Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 (edited) ... hope the BenchSumo one is at least correct. Looks good to me :-) - except that Jejima has fallen to Juryo, yet again (In a state of confusion...) But I have reached the joi-jin of Roto-Sumo :-):-):-) Edited September 7, 2008 by Jejima
Kofuji Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 OK ... it should be right now ... the connection is working much better this morning ... Kofuji
Asashosakari Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 (Cross-game hijack...) OK ... I don't know what's going on ... I know I cut and pasted a banzuke from Sumo Forum ... I thought this one ... to a text file on the server so I could enter it ... That makes about 3 hours wasted yesterday ... hope the BenchSumo one is at least correct. Speaking of which, is there some particular format that would make importing easier? I know you're entering the Toto banzuke, too, and given that I have the data in Excel anyway, maybe I can make things a little easier on you.

I know you're entering the Toto banzuke, too, and given that I have the data in Excel anyway, maybe I can make things a little easier on you. If I could get the banzuke as a simple list of rank, number, side, full shikona as in the database, I could just upload it rather than typing it in. ST is a bigger pain when working over dial up because of the large graphics and the need to page more frequently. Warm regards, Kofuji

Unfortunately I can't seem to download the image you've provided, but if you can use Toto's internal ID numbers, that would be great. Seems to me there's a report you have access to that will give them. Either that or the exact shikona registered for each player. The problem comes with the ones that get abbreviated for the ST banzuke site like the one that has "(Northern Russia)" appended to it. Warm regards, Kofuji

I could parse that to what I need quite easily and as long as the shikonas are spelled exactly the same way they are in the database, it would be easy to add the banzuke without typing it in. It shouldn't be a problem since I copy all the shikona from the web-page into my spreadsheet anyway. At the end of the basho, when I do the banzuke, I'll draw one up in the format you require and e-mail it to you. Or I could post it here along with the regular version, which ever you prefer.

Len, it would be great if you could send it to me by email as I don't always follow the sumo forum in a timely manner. Then I can just tag it for followup in my email until I get around to uploading it. Warm regards, Kofuji
Saruwatari Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Akishiki (ms14E) 0-7 Jk6 Chiisabuke (ms8E) 0-0-7 Jk7 Musafaba (ms15W) 0-0-7 This seems strange to me, unless 0-0-7 is treated differently than 0-7. Not that it matters much if Chiisabuke remains inactive.
