tominishiki Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 I have some questions about some banzukes: when the st and so banzukes will be published an the cibersumo and fantasty banzuke will be published thats it untill now.
Zenjimoto Posted October 7, 2003 Posted October 7, 2003 The ST and SO Banzuke will be published hopefully before the NSK's banzuke comes out. Cheers Zenjimoto
tominishiki Posted October 9, 2003 Author Posted October 9, 2003 Thanks zenji zeki where is Leonishiki did you now when is the ciber sumo banzuke will be published?
Yoavoshimaru Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Is there a rush? (I am not worthy...) It takes significant time and effort to make these banzuke, a lot of judgment calls to be made. Most game players don't make their entries until a day or two before the basho starts anyways, to allow for injuries and pre-basho training impressions. As long as the banzuke are published with sufficient time to think and make game entries in time, let's not push the game administrators (I am not worthy...)

Leonishiki Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 Thanks zenji zeki where is Leonishiki did you now when is the ciber sumo banzuke will be published? Well, I have the duty of making the Cibersumo banzuke, and I sent it to the Cibersumo Kyokai some days ago. All of them told me that the banzuke was OK for them, so I'm just waiting for Jose Luis Corral (Cibersumo Rijicho) to publish it. I'm sure we'll see it in a few days. PS.- Is it correct the sentence "I have the duty of making the Cibersumo..." in english? I have a great doubt with it (Oops! )
Kotoseiya Yuichi Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 Is it correct the sentence "I have the duty of making the Cibersumo..." in english? Well, at least the idea is conveyed. Duty isn't a verb as I thought it might be so another usable expression could be duty bound. I'm on duty bound to make the banzuke. For more see Dictionary.com's entry. We need a native speaker to comment. B-)
Kintamayama Posted October 13, 2003 Posted October 13, 2003 "I'm on duty bound" is incorrect. "I'm duty bound" is correct, but has a connotation that someone is forcing you. "My duty is to make the Banzuke" is also correct, but sounds awfully formal. The word "duty" has a subtext of HAVING to do something, as opposed to WANTING to do it. "I'm the one who does (makes) the Banzuke", is how I would say it, but that's me.. And yes, I'm a native speaker, although my history doesn't seem like it. I even studied English Literature at college for two years before becoming a certified bum. I type poorly.
Leonishiki Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 Thank you for your answers. Definitely, I need to improve my poor english. (Whistling...)
Kotoseiya Yuichi Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 "I'm on duty bound" is incorrect. Whoops, I had "on duty" first, changed it to "duty bound" but forgot to delete the "on". Thanks for clarification.
Fujisan Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 There is several ways of saying what your trying to convey, personally wouldnt use the word duty cos it is a bit formal. If it was me I would say- "I am responsible for the banzuke." Dont know if that helps.

At least that's how Snoop Dogg would say it....
