Fukurou Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 Sumogame server seems to be having "issues". Some games I can't reach at all (example: ISP, Hoshitori), for others I can get to the game's "home page", but no further (example: Rotosumo). Still others I can make my daily entry, but can't get any results (example: Sekitoto) I'll be trying again later, but was wondering if this is me or the server.

Usual thing - you run across an "issue", you wait an hour or so to see if it clears, it's still there so you ask about it, and then the problem starts to resolve itself almost immediately. So, I was able to reach ISP and Hoshitori (and make my entry for ISP - for all the good that'll do) and got to the Rotosumo results. Sekitoto is still saying that Results are not available, though. (maybe that'll come back too in 5 minutes or so...)
Harry Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 (edited) Yes, I find it is never down for a whole day which is sort of the problem. If it were I could just email my results in but many days I don't have time to try and try and try... I need a Blackberry or an iPhone or something so I can try to enter games all day (In a state of confusion...) I got Sekitoto results and I lost yesterday -- so much for my every day I've been able to play I win theory... sour grapes I know! Edited July 19, 2008 by Harry
sekihiryu Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I'll be trying again later, but was wondering if this is me or the server. 14hours of "issues" and counting, it's not just you.
Vikanohara Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 I didn't have too much problems yet, this basho. Mostly when it didn't work the first time, the second time I tried it did. With some patience here and there, but it has been worse in earlier bashos.
Fujisan Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 (edited) I think Totos finally given up the fight, its been down 4 or 5 hours now And I only have my Banzai entry to make, good job I started early today.(Hit the wall...) . (Raging at computer...) Edited July 20, 2008 by Fujisan

(Hit the wall...) . (Raging at computer...) At least Sekitoto is one of the games where players can email their picks. The address is sekitoto (at) gmx (dot) net (make the appropriate changes). You have to put the day and your shikona in the subject line. The Juryo and Makuuchi schedule for the day can be found in any number of places, including SumoForum.

Fukurou Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 I need the info for my Banzai entry though. sumogames.com being screwy is messing with szumo.hu? I didn't realize they were connected in some manner or other

I didn't realize they were connected in some manner or other No you misunderstand... Sekitori toto has information on each of the matches that you cant get elsewhere(Not on one page anyway) It is invaluable to my Banzai entry. Oh well I give up,for once Toto has beaten me into submission and I'm a determined(Pig-headed) guy normally.

(Raging at computer...) Doitsuyamas awesome database has a page with torikumi and the same info as the toto page and even though its on the same server as the toto its more likely to open for you. sumo database daily torikumi

Doitsuyamas awesome database has a page with torikumi and the same info as the toto page and even though its on the same server as the toto its more likely to open for you. sumo database daily torikumi Yes thank you I did know but Doitsuyamas site hasn't been much more reliable and the match info is across 3 pages, one for each rikishi and one for the head to heads.
Vikanohara Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 About 1,5 hours I've had problems to access the day 10 bouts page for Seki-Toto. So I decided to my picks for today by e-mail. Before I hit the send button I decided to have one more go, and of course all of a sudden I could easily get in. Just in time. ;-)
Kofuji Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 As an additional datapoint as to when to do your picks: The server resets the application pool at 5 minutes after the hour in order to kill any misbehaving threads. I would think shortly after that would be prime time to attempt entering. The other thing that comes into play is one of our host's applications that grabs data and is fairly intensive and runs every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour. I'm hoping I can move this to another machine before next basho. Most of the errors appear to be time outs on the database. Hopefully that will be resolved when more memory arrives for the server. It will probably be installed after this basho. SQL Server 2005 really wants at least a gig of RAM and it's only got half that. I'm seeing a reasonable number of errors being raised by the Sumo database ... don't have time now to inspect what's happening with the queries that are failing ... may be just database time outs as well. Will check more when I'm back in UAE. Warm regards, Kofuji

Most probably database time outs, I think too.
Vikanohara Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I've got this weird e-mail from ISP : "It looks like you were unable to enter the ISP today prior to the deadline. Your auto-pick formula picked Tamanoshima for you. 1. Age : Tamanoshima was born 15 September, 1977.Toyohibiki was born 16 November, 1984. Tamanoshima is younger! Your pick is Tamanoshima." First of all, I remember that I've been able to select Tamanoshima. Second, Toyohibiki is of course the younger of them.
Harry Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) Yes, the auto-picker has gone wacko. I just got this one for a long delayed auto-pick: From: "Internet Sumo Pool" <isp@sumogames.com>Subject: 2008 2008 Nagoya Day 3 ISP Auto-pick Date: Tue, 22 Jul 2008 15:16:52 -0700 (PDT) Harry-zeki, It looks like you were unable to enter the ISP today prior to the deadline. Your auto-pick formula picked Kakizoe for you. If you wish change your formula, go to http://isp.sumogames.com and choose auto-pick formula from the menu. 1. Wins This Basho Toyohibiki has 0 wins so far this basho. Kakizoe has 1 wins so far this basho. Kakizoe has more wins! Your pick is Kakizoe. In fact, on day 3 both had the same record of 1-2 and thus it should have gone to my second rule. That and Kakizoe lost so if you could change my auto pick to Toyohibiki... B-) Just kidding but please apply my next rules. Edited July 23, 2008 by Harry
Vikanohara Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 I can't enter Sumo Game on www.japanguide.info today. Do they have an e-mail to send your picks to ??? 55 minutes remaining... :-(
Kotoseiya Yuichi Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 webmaster@japanguide.info? Would that work?
Vikanohara Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 If only I wouldn't delete the reminder e-mails from Sumo Game before the start of each basho... :-(
Fukurou Posted July 26, 2008 Author Posted July 26, 2008 Has anyone been able to get past the Server Runtime Error to get the day 13 results for Hoshitori? Through playing with the URL I've gotten it to display previous days' results, but every way I've tried displays either the runtime error for day 13, or a "page cannot be displayed" error.

Through playing with the URL I've gotten it to display previous days' results, but every way I've tried displays either the runtime error for day 13, or a "page cannot be displayed" error. Looks like the server interrupted the day 13 calculations, leaving an incomplete set. I deleted that which triggered a new calculation. By the way, Kitananiumi is showing one of the best rookie performances ever (or even just performances, without "rookie"), leading by more than 50 points since day 11.

Just kidding but please apply my next rules. For some reason the autopick didn't run day 3, 4 and 5 so I ran them after the fact manually. Sorry, you've misinterpreted how this rule should be applied, Harry. When autopicks are done for day 3 only the results for day 2 are known, so both rikishi could not possibly have had records of 1-2. In fact they must have had results on day 2 of 0-2 and 1-1 therefore this is correct. As to the age issue, I will investigate. I haven't touched the code for years and this is the first time there's been a complaint about how the autopick is selecting age I can recall. Warm regards, Kofuji
