Jejima Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 (edited) This is a very simple game. All you have to do is guess Kisenosato's oppents each day, before the torikumi comes out. If you guess correctly, you get a shiroboshi. We had a little go with it last basho (emphasis on the little) - and it turned out to be fun. (Chased by the fans...) Some days are easier to predict than others, as there are certain rikishi that the komusubi needs to face. Towards the end of the previous basho, it became very interesting (in my opinion). Anyways please come along and join us (On the banzuke...) Here is the current banzuke:- Jejima (mz 6-9) S Maguroyama (mz 5-10) Sokkenaiyama (mz 1-2-12) K Harry (mz 0-2-13) The rules are:- 1. Guess Komusubi East Kisenosato's opponents on each day of the basho. 2. Entries need to be in before 12:00 noon Japan time on the previous day, except for the days 1 and 2 entries which need to be in before 12:00 noon Japan time on the Friday prior to the start of the basho. If it turns out that the daily toriukumi is printed before these times, then any entry proved to have come afterwards is not allowed for that day (so enter early to be safe). 3. Tie-breakers to decide the Yusho.... We look at the result of the day 15 prediction, then day 14, and so on back to day 1. If still a tie, then the highest ranked on the banzuke can claim the Yusho. 4. If Kisenosato goes kyujo during the basho, we switch to K1W Toyonoshima (S1W Kotoshogiku and S1E Ama kept in reserve if needed) for the day after his fusensho loss (I.e. we can still guess who gets the freebie). Jejima Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 Let me see...... Day 1: Y1W Hakuho Day 2: O1E Kotooshu That should keep him busy (Chased by the fans...)
Harry Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Wow, west komusubi! I do believe that is my highest sumo games rank... not bad for playing for two losing days last basho in the experimental running (Chased by the fans...) I will endeavor to do better this time but already it seems difficult. Ah, gambarimasu. Day 1: Y1W Hakuho Day 2: O1W Kotomitsuki
XiaoTan Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Quite interesting, I wonder if anyone will be able to achieve KK in this game. Just to be on the wrong side: 1. Y1E Asashoryu 2. O2E Kaio Neko
Chisaiyama Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Interesting concept for a game, well count me in: Day 1: Y1E Asashoryu Day 2: O2E Kaio
Harry Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Did I get the first two days right??? Next pick: Day 3 - O2W Chiyotaikai Harry
XiaoTan Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Day 3 - Kaio I am bound to get at least one right...
Maguroyama Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Darn! Missed the first two days, didn't I? Somehow I thought the basho was further away than that. Oh well, would've guessed Asashoryu for day 1 anyway. Day 3: Kaio
Jejima Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 Kisenosato's day 1 opponent is Y1W Hakuho. Jejima [1-0] S1 Maguroyama [0-0-1] Sokkenaiyama [0-0-1] K1 Harry [1-0] Maezumo XiaoTan [0-1] Chisaiyama [0-1] higginbotham [1-0] Kisenosato's day 2 opponent is O1W Kotomitsuki. Only Harry foresaw that (in this game at least). He shoots into the lead, undefeated. Jejima [1-1] S1 Maguroyama [0-0-2] Sokkenaiyama [0-0-2] K1 Harry [2-0] Maezumo XiaoTan [0-2] Chisaiyama [0-2] higginbotham [1-1] Kisenosato's opponents so far:- 1. Y1W Hakuho 2. O1W Kotomitsuki
Jejima Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 Day 3..... O2W Chiyotaikai (Singing drunk...)
Harry Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 I won't be here for a few days so here are my picks in advance (if I can find an e-cafe or something perhaps I can correct days 5 and 6 if those show up on day 4 or 5 but I doubt I'll get the chance): Day 4 - O2E Kaio Day 5 - S1E Ama Day 6 - O1E Kotooshu
Jejima Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 (edited) Kisenosato's day 3 opponent is O2W Chiyotaikai - and Harry is clearly on an ESP wavelength with the NSK. Jejima [2-1] S1 Maguroyama [0-1-2] Sokkenaiyama [0-0-3] K1 Harry [3-0] Maezumo XiaoTan [0-3] Chisaiyama [0-2-1] higginbotham [1-2] Kisenosato's opponents so far:- 1. Y1W Hakuho 2. O1W Kotomitsuki 3. O2W Chiyotaikai Edited July 14, 2008 by Jejima
Jejima Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 (edited) Day 4..... S1E Ama maybe? (Blowing up furiously...) Edited July 14, 2008 by Jejima
Jejima Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 (edited) Kisenosato's day 4 opponent will be O2E Kaio. Despite being away, Harry is clearly in league with the NSK. Jejima [2-2] S1 Maguroyama [0-1-3] Sokkenaiyama [0-1-3] K1 Harry [4-0] Maezumo XiaoTan [0-4] Chisaiyama [0-2-2] higginbotham [2-2] Kisenosato's opponents so far:- 1. Y1W Hakuho 2. O1W Kotomitsuki 3. O2W Chiyotaikai 4. O2E Kaio Edited July 15, 2008 by Jejima

Sokkenaiyama Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Day 5: Kotooshu. And I believe my record should be 0-1-3, not 0-0-4.
Jejima Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 And I believe my record should be 0-1-3, not 0-0-4. Corrected (Shaking head...)
Jejima Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 Kisenosato's day 5 opponent will be K1W Toyonoshima. This took everyone by surprise. Jejima [2-3] S1 Maguroyama [0-1-4] Sokkenaiyama [0-2-3] K1 Harry [4-1] Maezumo XiaoTan [0-5] Chisaiyama [0-2-3] higginbotham [2-3] Kisenosato's opponents so far:- 1. Y1W Hakuho 2. O1W Kotomitsuki 3.
