I must admit, though, that Asashoryu and Hakuho remind me slightly of Kitanoumi and Wajima back in the 70s.

Asashoryu is actually Kintaoumi reincarnate.

But in case the above, Wajima left and you know Kitanoumi is still around.

But in case of the Asashoryu/Hakuho, Asashoryu leaves and Hakuho will be the Rijicho 30 or so years from now.

And Asashoryu will be the president of Mongolia.

Medetashi, medetashi.

Ha-ha. So, you think that Mongolians would be stupid enough to make Asa the president. Nice.

Of course, there are lots of stupid Mongolians who may vote Asa for MP.

(Kyokushuzan is running for a MP seat from Mongolian Democratic Party, I heard.Very laughable but true.(I fear he may get elected. Another wrestler or athlete who has no clue about politics )).

I know you are jocking or being a bit sarcastic about Hakuho being a Rijicho.

But, it's interesting how the Japanese attitude will change by then, really(Though, the Japanese are more accepting compared to ...for example us, Mongolians).

(Kotooshu being a Rijicho sounds more realistic and more fitting to Japanese souls.)

Actually I think Hakuho has a definite chance of being elected the Rijicho, provided that he gets the citizenship and stays after he retires. He is married to a Japanese woman and then gets his own heya in Tatsunami Ichimon. Since almost all Riji are Sekiwake and higher, he definitely qualifies to be a Riji from the group. The only other will be Kaio. They get two from the Ichimon representing the committee and knowing Kaio, he will have no trouble supporting a higher ranking rikishi from his Ichimon as well as good support from the future Oshima oyakata, Kyokutenho.

I am pretty sure they will only go with former ozeki or yokozuna to be a Rijicho, so perhaps someone like Musashigawa, Hakkaku, Asahifuji, Takanohana, Chiyotaikai, Kaio and possibly even Kotomitsuki and Hakuho should be future Rijicho candiates.

As for Asashoryu, he has not shown any willingness to stay with the Kyokai and some people will not shed any tears seeing him out of Ozumo and country after his active career.

I guess I am one of those stu.mongolians

iF Asa go to University in Japan and grow up mentally/ politically, he is no less than local boys. Asa is certainly one of those patriotic souls I have ever seen. Why not go for President.

Also this Kyokushuzan is born foxy, can be a politician. Not as patriotic as Asa, but we will see.

Hakuho does not really look smart right now. Certainly he is growing, as we see he is trying show that he is no longer little brother to Asa. Instead of trying to stare down each other, they should more concentrate on tactics against those who are big, tall with looooong arms

It seemed very laughable when a former world champion body builder and action movie star ran for the office of governor of California, but Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected and then re-elected in a landslide. He has done amazingly well for someone with virtually no political experience. If it was possible for him to run for a third term (it isn't), he probably would easily be re-elected again.

As for Kyokushuzan, he may have absolutely no clue about politics. But maybe he has more political ability than people realize. If he's elected and turns out to be a political disaster, he won't be re-elected. Democracy may have its faults, but it's very good at giving people the chance to run for office (no matter what their background may be)--and for getting rid of them when they've been elected and turn out to be ineffective.

Ick, are you suggesting the two Mongolian Dai-Yokozuna should employ yaocho against the meek Kotooshu?

I think I have wrote

I am trying to say about sumo tecnnique and wrestling

When I watch again and again Asa vs Kotooshyu. Kotooshyu obviously had clear physical advantages over short Asa. Also watching Ama and Hakuho's sumo against Shyu confirms that Mongolians have physical disadvantage- body sizes.

In order not to repeat that loses, Asashoryu should have a powerful taichi-ai to blow out kotooshyu mind away :) and so on..

I blame Kyokushuzan's foolish Japanese stablemate Kyokudozan for giving him too many ideas!

(I dunno...)

I'm curious.

How did people rate Kyokudozan's effectiveness as a politician?

How well did he represent the interests of his constituents?
