13:21 Getting a reduced picture size and very weak audio.

13:45 - Sound fixed. Looks like they are doing video adjustments.

Looks like they've reduced the bitrate again, though. (Clapping wildly...) Now just 68 kbit/s...and it definitely shows.

Suspect they are back to the schedule where they come up for the last one or two Juryo matches. We shall see in about 20 minutes.

I wondered what was wrong. I had to watch the action in a very small box yesterday in order to get reasonable detail.

I really think you'll see sumo moving towards PPV in the months / years ahead. It effectively is stateside now from what I understand.

How this plays out in the various EU / other nations sumo fandom is centered......... perhaps a few letters to the local SKY providers might help. There IS sumo on SKY here on Japan - 2300 onwards IIRC. (may be payable channel - can't recall but I have it)

It is also on NHK - standard and BS (both payable IIANM) so with NHK wielding so much influence, and having so much debt, perhaps they'd see this as a potential and viable income source and are winding down accordingly.

I sometimes watch on my mobile phone (has TV) if out and about and there is talk of how to charge these users in Japan so anything is possible.

I missed Hoshi. Wasn't watching that closely when it started, but thought that there was a match before Kaiho's. Maybe not.

I think it had been 75 for quite a while, though it was even higher in the past (80 before, and ~90 several years ago IIRC). At any rate, back down to 68 kbit today...sigh.
