Asojima Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 (edited) Welcome to the 21 game for Natsu 08. The game is a simple pre-basho game in which you are given 21 matchups that may occur in the next basho. You job is to decide whether each match will occur, and , if so, who will win it. Each of the 42 makuuchi rikishi will be found in one and only one match. The matchups are selected on the basis of closeness in rank and the closeness in win-loss records. The intent is to select 21 of the least predictable matches. Entries are submitted as posts in this topic. Each match will have two rikishi labeled Edited May 11, 2008 by Asojima

Harry Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 I am never good at these kinds of things, I can't pick by stats, my heart always ends up in the way... let's see how I do with this! I played games for the first time last basho and didn't do any analysis at all. I mostly went for the people I hoped would win. Well, I won two games! This basho I'm thinking about it and I no longer have beginner's luck on my side so I'm sure to fail miserably... May the beginner's luck be with you :-)

B The matchup selection is indeed nice as for the bouts themselves, but I still would like to see the game getting back to where it was in the old Takamueda-days, when the matchups were selected in a way, that it could actually happen that they don't take place. I don't think it makes sense to have a "x"-option when the selected bouts involve rikishi ranked right next to each other on the banzuke and the only way the fight won't take place would be a kyujo... There were 5 closely ranked X matches in Haru with no kyujo involved. The torikumi makers get a bit creative during the second week.
