Fans of sumo in the Tokyo area might want to keep an eye out for a new magazine - M2 - first issue out on Friday the 29th and carrying a 3-pager of pics and text on the upcoming annual Yasukuni sumo gig next Friday, April 5th. (definitely available in the FCCJ)

The magazine has no significant online presence yet so hard copies are the only option at the moment although there will be a photo of the article appearing on my FB page in the next couple of hours.

Kimura Sehei, last time I looked. Or did I miss something?

After two or three days of torrential rain we had bright sunshine today in Tokyo, so the Yasukuni ground may have dried out by tomorrow. But the pink scum covering the little river below my window yesterday proved, on closer inspection, to be the last of the cherry blossoms floating out to sea -- so let's hope Yasukuni has a few trees of a late-flowering variety to provide the promised background.

Good luck to the new mag -- I used to like Metropolis a lot, though it's true I haven't bothered to get a copy for some time.

Kise stands for "Kitanoumi Sehei".

Yes - Asashosakari was alluding to the fact that Mark mistakenly said Jokoryu belongs to Kitanoumi beya rather than Kise.

I meant typo, not factual mistakes. The kind the "edirot" should have spotted..

Well, you used the singular, so between the four typos and one factual error I saw, I thought you were referring to the latter.

Ooooh, I found only one..

I guess I know which one you indetified. Wold the Harumafufi find the others? Maybe with more than a moments notice. (That's five actually, though one not in the "typo" realm.)

I hasten to add that it's a very well-written summary of the basho, and it's a bit of a shame that the typos detract from it.

Excellnet and I totally agree that it is well written.

I infer that the new mag, Son of Metropolis, has a subeditor, unlike the Japan Times online.

Incidentally I was at a lunch place today that provided two magazines to customers at the door: a thin Metropolis plus a rather fatter M2, side by side. Unfortunately I forgot to pick up copies as I left.

An interesting article posted by Gaijingai on the SML pondering whether the muko-jomen is a haunted place!

Wow i really enjoyed that, Kitanoumi looks like a very tough guy so his talk of being scared i find even more interesting, we can have strange experiences in this life that's for sure, whatever the cause may be.
