Hi.

I pick E-Jonokuchi 26 Akinosato, please.

Thanks.

Terarno

Akinosato is kyujo, so I would like to replace him by W-Jonokuchi 28 Ebashi, please. Thanks.

I briefly considered picking Ms49e Asashosakari - Ms56e Hananotaka, but that'd be completely unfair. (Tears forming...)

Ms58e YMY

I would have done my best! ;-)

Anyway, I'm taking Ms38w Ri, please. :-)

This is the scoreboard for Hatsu Basho:

Odoriou and Ganzohnesushi will try to stay sekitori (which seems to be the most difficult part of the game, given that two players in First Wave already tried with little success). Otherwise it's the most bandwagon-ish wave from the three old ones with Ri, YMY and Kyokushuho the obvious picks.

Results will be updated after days 6, 10, and 15.

Please help me in a classical Game admin's dilemma.

Imumaru has picked a kyujo rikishi in 2nd Wave. I have even informed him about it via PM. Unfortunately, he did not read that PM yesterday, but now has asked me if it is OK to replace his kyujo pick with an alternative pick of two rikishi who are still 0-0 after day 1.

There is no rule in Banzuke Surfing that says such an action is allowed. However, we have exactly this kind of replacement rule in Makushita Game. Now what should I do? On one hand, I am inclined to follow strict rules ("deadline is deadline" etc.), on the other hand I do not see any advantage gained for Imumaru by his suggestion.

So I decided to hand that case over to you :-) : If someone is opposed to Imumaru's suggestion, he or she can inform me/us about it (either in this thread, or via PM). If no one raises any concerns within the next 24 hours, rules will be changed accordingly, and Imumaru can alter his picks as suggested.

Imumaru is a fellow Izzy, so my opinion is not neutral, but I say : let's kosho the basteard !!! Bwah ah ah ah ! (Blowing up furiously...)

Nah, just kidding, allowing him to enter is fine with me.

Does "alternative pick of two rikishi" mean he wants to spend a joker now? If so, I don't feel too hot about that...I don't have a problem with a replacement pick, but changing strategies altogether would be a bit much for me...

I agree with both of you. Imumaru should pick one of the two 0-0 rikishi and go with him. To elect to use a joker now would not be the same as merely replacing a kyujo guy. I suppose he should be awarded the first of his two selections. If he wanted to limit his risk and use a joker, he could have done so prior to the start of the tournament.

I observe the same policy for both the Sandanme Game and the Jo-Game. If no results can be known (rikishi has not appeared yet) then he is deemed acceptable as a kyujo replacement until he enters the dohyo. No one has abused this policy to date. Having a default replacement policy might have been useful in this case however.

As for the default, how would you decide on one? The highest ranked rikishi available doesn't sound too good. Most of us would pick someone who seems to be on an upswing and so someone with a great record last tournament. My suggestion is to give the player the next highest ranked rikishi taken by another player. That is a rikishi ranked no higher than the one who ended up kyujo. If he is taken by another player, he is likely worthy of some consideration and yet being ranked lower than the first choice, the advantage of relying on another player's cleverness is limited a bit.

Standings after day 6:

It's up to a cointoss if Odoriou manages to stay in Juryo. Ganzohnesushi shares the same fate as the Surf Rijicho in First Wave. It could very well be that Golynohana will take over the lead in Second Wave. Oh, and I forgot to mention that Imumaru was granted his (first) replacement pick (Daise) in low Sandanme.

Standings after day 10:

Two players are in Juryo, but a third one is in the virtual lead. Golynohana looks pretty much like he is going to trump everybody else, thanks to his Tosayutaka pick. Even a 6-1 and a small KK by Odorious's Wakakoyu might be enough for the Polish gaming giant to move to the top.

The YMY trio is also poised to move up in the standings considerably.

It's the second time already that Ganzohnesushi picks somebody who goes intai in this wave. Weird tactic, but it seems to work. (Sign of approval...)

quick question .... what happens in this case ?

(just curious i guess since i am not playing the game)

Your position next basho is determined by the rank of your selected rikishi on the next banzuke. Since Tochinohana will vanish into thin air, the ruling is that the player keeps his banzuke rank from last basho - usually a lucky break since rikishi going intai don't win the yusho or anything like that.

Lucky me, I just saw that Tochnohana has announced his Intai.... But I don
