Fay Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 As we all know, Kotoyamaguchi could finally escape Asashosakari's persistence watch. He reached a KK at Kyushu basho and is now on his best ranking ever - naturellement - Jonidan 101w. He will have his birthday during Hatsu Basho and will become 17, so there is some hope that he will grow a bit. So now our next step is to reach Sandanme after Kyushu Basho 2008. A big aim for Kotoyamaguchi, but he will manage it. I will have a close look at him during Hatsu and give my report B-)
Washuyama Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 I made a point to look for him when the new banzuke came out. Glad to see his new rank. I hope this gives him some motivation that will help hime continue to rise. I, for one, am rooting for him right along with you.
Fay Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Two fights so long from Kotoyamaguchi, one loss, one win. He has to learn a lot but I can see he is motivated and gives it all on the dohyo.
Fay Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 Well Kotoyamaguchi and I have to suffer a little setback. We ended 2-5. Today our last bout, I gave him my applause when he stepped on the dohyo. Of course Kumegawa Oyakata was sitting there again and started grinning. But also Sadogatake Oyakata came in and watched the bout from the last row. And it was worth it!! Kotoyamaguchi grabbed the mawashi and pushed, and pushed and pushed ..... he nearly made it. It was a close bout, nothing to complain about. The birthday chocolate helped (Dribbling...). I see that he tries hard and I will keep an eye or two on him.
Fay Posted January 26, 2008 Author Posted January 26, 2008 And a birthday cake for Kotoyamaguchi (Sign of approval...)
Fay Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 Kotoyamaguchi started with a win against Daikosei but lost to Takanomiya, Kanomiya's brother. But today I got one of the nicest presents ever, some green tea produced by his family. I adopted him, they adopted me (Osh...)
Fay Posted May 16, 2008 Author Posted May 16, 2008 Kotomyozan, former Yamaguchi showed perfect forward moving sumo, worth a yokozuna ... He is 2-1 and on a good way.
Fay Posted May 20, 2008 Author Posted May 20, 2008 Kotomyozan is 3-2, today a really nice win with a tsukiotoshi. He waited outside, I wished him even more luck for tomorrow. I hope I manage to be there in time. (In a state of confusion...)
Fay Posted May 21, 2008 Author Posted May 21, 2008 Kotomyozan had another fight today and he made it (Holiday feeling...) . Kachi koshi for him (4-2) and he even can win one more. I'm really proud of him ;-)
Fay Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 Kotomyozan has a new best ranking: Jonidan 100. :-O Not a big step from Hatsu where he was Jonidan 101, but now his little star is rising again. I'm sure he learned a lot and he will make another KK. GOOOOOO Kotomyozaaaaaaaaaaan!!!
Kotoviki Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I'm with you!! I wish him all the luck in Nagoya!!! Happy to see him move, even if only a little step!!! Good Luck Kotomyozan!!!!
Mikiro Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Thanks Fay for all these pics and ilovetochinoshin you have a great blog.
Fay Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 (Applauding...) Kotomyozan started with two losses against Tokushuzan from Matsugane Beya and today against Naruto's Noguchi. Both guys have more experience than he has ... but Spatzl, if we want to be in Sandanme after kyushu basho we have to get our teeth into it ... Ganbatteeeeeeeeeeeeee
Fay Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 Pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!!! This will be a perfect day for Sadogatake beya today. Kotomyozan got his first win and is 1-2. (Holiday feeling...)
Kotoviki Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 That's great news!! I hadn't checked the results yet as I am at the library between classes!! I am so happy for him and hope the rest of the Sadogate boys do as well!!! (Holiday feeling...) (Applauding...) (Applauding...)
Fay Posted July 22, 2008 Author Posted July 22, 2008 Fortune favours the bold. Kotomyozan got a fusen win today and he is 2-3. Not really a convincing performance this basho ... still a long way to go ;-)
Fay Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 Still hope for a KK for Kotomyozan. His rival today was Ichifuji - well not one of the strongest, but we all started from scratch. :-S
Kotoviki Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I'm thinking very positive about his kachi-koshi! :-D Like you I'm looking forward to him climbing up and up the banzuke!!!
Fay Posted July 25, 2008 Author Posted July 25, 2008 :-( Kotoyamaguchi had a difficult task today, Teraoumi from Shikoroyama Beya. He lost and is MK. We have to hold off on our dreams to reach sandanme at the end of this year. But we will not give up, this was only a little step back for him, he is still young, more keiko, more weight and he will do it.
Fay Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Kotomyozan Jonidan 121 west. We have to wait a little longer for the Sandanme division. But I can assure you, at least he doesn't smoke dope (Holiday feeling...).
Fay Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 One step in the right direction, 1-0 for Kotomyozan (former -yamaguchi).
Fay Posted September 17, 2008 Author Posted September 17, 2008 And another step, Kotomyozan won with a fine uwatenage (still no stream for the lower divisions, so I didn't see it, well I guess, nobody else either - except maybe Doreen). 2 - 0 (Sign of approval...)
Kotoviki Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I saw his match on Sunday but today I had to work, what a shame! (Sign of approval...) I am sure to see more of his wins as I will be there every day from tomorrow till next Thursday. I hope he continues to do well!!!!
