Doitsuyama Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Tosayutaka won his third consecutive yusho win over Mongolian Shotenro, extending his win streak to 25 wins. All three yusho were without a playoff. Tochinoshin got a fifth win, beating Kaonishiki with yoritaoshi, but his juryo promotion was sure since day 6. Bushuyama got the kachi-koshi, sending Sagatsukasa in juryo to make-koshi. Even at Ms5w Bushuyama still has some promotion chances, depending on the number of free slots and the results of Ryuho, Yakigaya and Tochisakae who all are 3-3 and ranked above him and likely will face juryo rikishi too. Right now there are four free slots (possibly going up to six or, unlikely, seven) and Bushuyama is lined up fourth behind Tochinoshin, Kimurayama and Tamawashi. Buyuzan has another make-koshi, losing to another former sekitori, heavy Hokutoiwa. Small Kagaya finished kachi-koshi with a win over experienced Tenichi. Yamamotoyama truly hit the wall, finishing 1-6 and possibly meeting Orora next basho in low makushita as Orora finished 5-2 with a win today to secure makushita promotion. Hakiai won against Akai and had to wait if he will be in a yusho playoff as Wakahikari met a one-loss rikishi with tall Oazuma and Kyokushuho faced Shiratsuka in sandanme. But both other leaders won their bouts, so there will be a three-rikishi tomoe-sen on senshuraku. Shiratsuka's loss also meant that the bout between Sadanoumi and Fujimoto fought outright for the yusho and Sadanoumi from Sakaigawa-beya won this one with hatakikomi. 29 years old Fujiarashi won the jonokuchi yusho, avoiding a playoff by beating a one-loss rikishi from jonidan with 17 years old Yatsurugi. It's the first yusho in his career of more than 14 years. Noguchi and Yamatofuji also had good return basho, both winning today to finish with 6-1. Bealzbob Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Excellent, thanks Asa. Yama didn't look as powerful as I thought he was. He also just looked tired at the end and just wanted to sit down (In jonokuchi...)
