Baruto (11-0) over Shimotori by sukuinage

--------------------------------------------------

(Will be securing the yusho if he can win tomorrow, tying the quickest Juryo yusho by day 12

record, and asked about his second all win Juryo yusho)

"All I can do is doing my best every bout every day. About another all win yusho? I hope you can all look forward to it on the Senshuraku."

Kyokutenho (8-3) losing to Kasugao by yorikiri, 11.5 seconds

------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Losing his third)

"Let's see we have four more days left. I guess it's too much to expect to win all four. If I can get 2 wins and 2 losses, I will finish with 10 wins and 5 losses. Very reasonable. You know when I can get myself thinking that way, I can go out with much more ease."

Goeido (10-1) over Takekaze by oshidashi, 3.9 seconds

----------------------------------------------------------------

(For the first time since the 1949 when the 15 day basho was instituted, a Makunouchi debut

rikishi is on the top of the yusho race board on day 11. Even the "incident" cannot spoil his joy of winning today.)

"I was just thinking of moving forward today. I was able to go all out and stayed calm. Today I

was able to have a sumo I wanted exactly."

(During the bout, there were quite a bit of commotion just outside the dohyo as a spectator tried to get up on the dohyo and was stopped)

"For a moment I was really surprised but I didn't lose my concentration at all. It happened at a place I wasn't paying attention to and I could not see anyway."

(On Ama bout tomorrow)

"I am aware of his powerful sumo but I try not to get overly concerned. I just try to go with my

own sumo and approach it without any pressure."

Sakaigawa oyakata (former Ryogoku), Goeido's shisho

-----------------------------------------------------------------

(On Goeido)

"I am just telling him to focus solely on the day's bout."

Takekaze (8-3) losing to Goeido

--------------------------------------

(Getting upset over a female spectator trying to get up on the dohyo prior to his bout)

"What was that all about? You know we are trying hard to earn a living here."

"Anyway I figured you guys were going to ask me if I lost my concentration but actually I did not but I lost the bout."

Takamisakari (5-6) over Tamanoshima by yorikiri, 5.8 seconds

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

(With Nishikido oyakata, helped to stop a female fan from trying to climb up on the dohyo)

" I heard some loud noises. I felt I had to help out as well. Something like this is not really good for your heart."

(Winning his bout against Tamanoshima)

"Well at least I got in a decent sumo today."

Kitanoumi oyakata, Kyokai chairman

------------------------------------------

(On Takamisakari)

"I should commend him for his prompt action."

Nishikido oyakata (former Mitoizumi, dohyo judge)

---------------------------------------------------------

"I heard a female guard yelling, 'Please stop' and saw what was going on. She was making some kind of gurgling noise."

Isenoumi oyakata, Director of Security

----------------------------------------------

(Citing a previous incident of a drunken male spectator getting up on the dohyo and was caught by Kyokudozan at the 1991Kyushu basho)

"With the past incident in mind, a dohyo judge quickly sensed it and everyone sprung into the

action very quickly. I understand the police would be taking a proper action. I believe we have

responded appropriately."

(The woman was reportedly talking incoherently and had a pile of flyers unrelated to ozumo

with her.)

Toyohibiki (6-5) over Tochiozan by hatakikomi, 3.6 seconds

----------------------------------------------------------------------

(Stopping his losing streak at three)

"I lost the tachiai but I am so happy I ended my losing streak. I want to turn things around

from now on."

Miyabiyama (7-4) over Tamakasuga by oshi-dashi, 4.9 seconds

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

(On the incident)

"I was just about to watch Goeido's bout and then all hell broke loose. Suddenly everyone was

screaming and running all over."

"What? Takamisari stopped her? Wow, he beat Tamanoshima by yorikiri too. He got two wins

in a single day then. The man is something, isn't he?"

Ama (8-3) over Homasho by yorikiri, 38.8 seconds

----------------------------------------------------------

(Stopping powerful Homasho)

"Well just as I suspected, he was heavy. But I am really happy. I worked really hard during the

Juyngyo tour so I wanted to show the good result from it."

(By winning at least enable to keep his rank next basho)

"I'd like to keep going with my own sumo, rather than merely maintaining the rank."

(On facing Goeido tomorrow)

"I'd be looking forward to judging for myself if he is a real deal."

Kisenosato (4-7) losing to Kakuryu by tsuki-otoshi, 0.7 second

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Done in by Kakuryu's henka)

"Ah....I got fooled. Shucks. "

Aminishiki (8-3) losing to Kotomitsuki by hatakikomi, 1.0 second

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Suffering his third loss in a row)

"I was so sure he would come out hard and straight...Well anyway, I let it go. At least I wasn't

backing down."

Kotomitsuki (7-4) over Aminishiki

---------------------------------------

(Winning by pulling doth not bring a joy)

"I got a win. So that wasn't bad. I was going for a Migi-yotsu but I ended up with Hidari-yotsu.

My sumo is in a total disarray. That's all I can say today."

Asasekiryu (5-6) over Kotooshu by yorikiri, 4.8 seconds

----------------------------------------------------------------

(A convincing moro-zashi win against Kotooshu)

"Yeah I got both arms in at the end. Moro-zashi, that's almost never heard for me, right?"

"Now if I can win tomorrow (against Chiyotaikai) then it means I'd been prevailing over all ozeki."

Kotoshogiku (7-4) over Chiyotaikai by hataki-komi, 0.8 second

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Seeing Toyonoshima beating the yokozuna)

"The guy is just phenomenal. Whether his opponent is a yokozuna or ozeki, he can put himself

in a moro-zashi. "

(For his day 12)

"Seeing him I am really all psyched up for tomorrow already now."

Chiyotaikai (8-3) losing to Kotoshogiku

----------------------------------------------

(Fell right into his opponent's henka)

"I had too much faith in him. Normally he jumps out hitting real hard. I never suspected he'd

come out pulling. I guess he must have been clinging to his dear life to go with a trick like that.

You know he was hitting his body hard with loud bangs before the tachiai. So what was that all about? It's just enough to lose faith in people you know."

"I can pronounce this has been one disastrous day for yokozuna and ozeki. "

Toyonoshima (7-4) over Hakuho by oshi-dashi, 7.1 seconds

--------------------------------------------------------------------

(Realized getting a Kinboshi when a zabuton flew by his face)

"I thought, 'Oh my, zabuton!"

(Going with a perfect moro-zashi)

"I felt if I could go with both arms in, I'd have a better chance. But I was just about trying everything and anything to stay in."

(Never won against Asashoryu nor Hakuho up to now)

"This is all like a dream. I am overwhelmingly happy. I am sure my dad is crying just about now."

(Now beating a yokozuna and two ozeki this basho and getting a pile of kensho envelopes)

" I still can't believe it. The envelopes? I tell you I didn't have any trouble carrying them."

Hakuho (9-2) losing to Toyonoshima

-------------------------------------------

(Giving away the first kin-boshi since promoted)

"I am wondering what really happened."

"At the dohyo edge, I was too confident that I could stay in, feeling I could come back, no problem."

(Now trailing a Makunouchi rookie Goeido)

"This basho I was able to pretty much go all with my sumo. The question was what I could do

if the form breaks down."

"I'd have to take each and every single bout with care so I won't drop any more. I will be going

fully focused to do my best every single day."

Ajigawa oyakata (former yokozuna Asahifuji), Hakuho's Ichimon's yokozuna

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(On Hakuho)

"The weight and pressure of being one yokozuna will unknowingly transform your sumo. It was

the same with me."

Yusho Race Board

If Miyabiyama could have gotten two wins in one day, he'd probably be an ozeki right now.
