yamaneko Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Whats wrong with him the last year? Ever since he made komusubi, and things were looking good for him, outside of a 10-5 basho, he has gone 22-47, including 12-27 since his last kachikoshi. Here he is at low maegashira, i expected him to bounce back since he hasnt been at this low a rank since he was in juryo almost 4 years ago. yet hes 3-6 and has given ryuo one of his 2 wins, and lost to hakurozan and iwakiyama as well. Is he injured? I didnt expect him to necessarily be a sanyaku mainstay, but still, the rate hes going hes back in juryo soon.
Otokonoyama Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Good tachiai, good fighting spirit, good size and strength. He just seems to be lacking in solid all around sumo skills. He has improved very slightly on the mawashi for when he gets in yotsu battles. His deashi is maybe slightly better. Suriashi, needs a lot of work. Still resorts to a lot of pulling when his hard tachiai doesn't get him an immediate advantage. Result...journeyman.
yamaneko Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 kokkai must have read the board. Showed his strongest sumo of the tournament today. completely man handled kasuganishiki.
Yagura Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 I have followed Kokkai since he was in Juryo, and don't know why I think he looks tired, as if he had lost his joy for Sumo. Don't know I am very worried, I really thought he would become Ozeki one day. Regards.
