Asojima Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 (edited) On day 10, in a match with Tochinonada. Hakurozan made the most futile henka attempt I think I have ever seen. If you missed it, check the videos. Edited July 17, 2007 by Asojima
Kotonosato Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 That was one of the all-time lamest tachiai. (Clapping wildly...)
Asojima Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 It looks like Hakurozan was fixated on doing a henka, and when Nada didn't give a low charge, he didn't have a plan B. When all else fails, try jumping. (Clapping wildly...)
Tikozan Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 (edited) The same "jumping" henka did Wakanoho on day 5 in juryo against Iwakiyama (Henka!!!) ...but he won Edited July 17, 2007 by Tikozan
sekihiryu Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 That was one of the all-time lamest tachiai. (Shaking head...) well the two rikishi on display are two of the weakest in Makuuchi at the moment. One is perpetually disappointing and other ones knees are so creaky I am surpised he had enough spring in them to even get airborne

One is perpetually disappointing and other ones knees are so creaky I am surpised he had enough spring in them to even get airborne Funny, I've thought that Tochinonada is looking pretty good this basho (and back in May, too). Maybe you think he should still be sanyaku-quality, despite the fact that he's 33 now and one of the oldest in Makuuchi? Yeah, he'd be disappointing then, I guess...
