Jakusotsu Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Already slipping into in-between-basho lull? No more new quizzes around? Here is one: What is the unique thing shared by Futeno and Satoyama among current sekitori?
Asojima Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 What is the unique thing shared by Futeno and Satoyama among current sekitori? A yellow polka dot bicycle. Futeno gets it on weekends with odd numbered Sundays and Satoyama gets it on even numbered weekends. (Clapping wildly...)
Jakusotsu Posted June 9, 2007 Author Posted June 9, 2007 A yellow polka dot bicycle. Futeno gets it on weekends with odd numbered Sundays and Satoyama gets it on even numbered weekends. (Blushing...) Close, but that bike originally belonged to Kyokutenho before he switched to cars, so it's not exclusively connected to Futeno and Satoyama.
Jakusotsu Posted June 10, 2007 Author Posted June 10, 2007 Nobody biting? This is serious, guys! What is it that Futeno and Satoyama have in common apart from any other sekitori? Need a hint? Ok: You don't need any stats database to solve this.
Jakusotsu Posted June 12, 2007 Author Posted June 12, 2007 Hmm, did I really manage to post the first unsolved sumo riddle on this forum? Can't be! C'mon guys, the answer is plain to see, You just need to look the right way!
Jakusotsu Posted June 15, 2007 Author Posted June 15, 2007 Not giving up on You yet - here's another hint: at first glance I thought Kasugao being a member of the same club, but closer inspection disqualified him by the slightest margin.
Jakusotsu Posted June 15, 2007 Author Posted June 15, 2007 They both have "outie" bellybuttons? Have they? Never noticed before... But You're definitely on the right track - just have to look somewhere else.
Jakusotsu Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 The most recent sekitori in the club with Futeno and Satoyama was Dairaido last year. Kinkaiyama was another near miss like Kasugao. (none of the current Juryo promotees apply)
Jejima Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Can I ask some questions? Is it something to do with their physical appeaernce, eg, they both have a birth mark shaped like the Titanic on their right thighs? Or is it something annate, eg, they are both left-handed. Or is it something else?
Jakusotsu Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Although visible, it has nothing to do with their body.
Jakusotsu Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Nope, even cats and dogs could solve this riddle. (if they were properly trained, that is...)
Kintamayama Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Nope, even cats and dogs could solve this riddle. (if they were properly trained, that is...) They both use squat toilets?
Jakusotsu Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Something to do with their shikonas? We're getting warm now... They both use squat toilets? Photographical evidence, please!
Sasanishiki Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Something to do with their shikonas? We're getting warm now... Hmmm, no character similarities, they don't have het same number of syllables, they are not the only ones using their given first names, they are not both using their own surnames as shikona... I'm stumped.
Jakusotsu Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 ..., no character similarities,... I would comment on that, if it wouldn't give too much away... :-D
Asashosakari Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 ..., no character similarities,... I would comment on that, if it wouldn't give too much away... :-D Ohh... All kanji in their shikona have left-to-right symmetry.
Jakusotsu Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 And the winner is: Asashosakari! ;-) Congrats! (Shaking head...) Didn't think it would take so long to be solved... Club members: Futeno - 普天王 Satoyama - 里山 Dairaido - 雷童 Near misses: Kasugao - 春日王 Kinkaiyama - 金開山
Jakusotsu Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 NOW I see. You mean each one individually. Either that, or how it's written on the banzuke: vertically
Doitsuyama Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 NOW I see. You mean each one individually. Either that, or how it's written on the banzuke: vertically Hmm, I suppose you have never tried to read the kanji on the banzuke. 山 on the banzuke is most definitely anything but symmetrical. Have a closer look and see yourself.
Jakusotsu Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 Hmm, I suppose you have never tried to read the kanji on the banzuke. 山 on the banzuke is most definitely anything but symmetrical. Have a closer look and see yourself. I know. That's why I wrote "You just need to look the right way" earlier. On a real calligraphic banzuke, nothing besides the frame is symmetrical at all. I hereby withdraw my "how it's written on the banzuke" statement. It was meant for arrangement purposes only. (Shaking head...)
Kotonosato Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Didn't you also say that cats and dogs could figure it out? You must have very intelligent pets.
Jakusotsu Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 You must have very intelligent pets. If I had, they whould be intelligent enough to ignore me. B-) But I'm pretty sure that some keen researchers would be able to devise a test where dogs bark when shown a rorschach image and pee at Baruto's kanji.
