Torideyama Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Here are some statistics about the Chain Gang game through day 5. Total Participants to Start - 143 People gone on Day 1 - 30 Day 2 - 29 Day 3 - 7 Day 4 - 12 Day 5 - 11 I wonder what the records are for least number of people to drop out by day. Everyone is riding the Baruto Train for the most part. I, for one, am just hoping to stay alive until the derailment.
aderechelsea Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 i am running "next to the train" myself and i also hope for a "derailment" sometime soon because i don't know for how long will i be able to stay in the game. Realistically though a zensho yusho from Baruto is far from unachievable and i think the Chain yusho will be decided in minor details like picking for example one day Ichihara, another day Wakanoho or Chiyohakuho tomorrow. Personally i went up to Makuuchi for picks, so i have no chances when it gets down in a tie. So there is no actual point for me to pick Baruto. My only chance (if any) is to wait for him to lose unexpectedly. Tomorrow it is not a good day though because Wakanoho is fairly popular and lots of people will pick Chiyohakuho instead of Baruto .... or so i think.
Vikanohara Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I wonder what's the record of most times in a row being out of the game on day 1. (Clapping wildly...)
Gusoyama Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Back when you could pick the Ozeki and Yokozuna, a lot more people would hang around a lot longer.
sekihiryu Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 (edited) Baruto schmaruto like Adere and torideyama I am still in there and have yet to pick him, I too am waiting a massive day of carnage to come soon, hopefully I will still be there! edit day 6 - only 4 dropped out Edited May 18, 2007 by sekihiryu
aderechelsea Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 (edited) AND WE HAVE REACHED OUR FINAL STATION !!!!!! the Baruto express was just put to a halt in "Koryu Station". I cannot wait to see how many passengers had to get off the train mid-distance (Applauding...) (Applauding...) Edited May 19, 2007 by aderechelsea
Asojima Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 the Baruto express was just put to a halt in "Kobo Station". I cannot wait to see how many passengers had to get off the train mid-distance Mostly those who hoped to bypass the KORYU stop. (Applauding...) (Applauding...)

Kintamayama Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Carnage from Carnage Street. Only 14 left. 42 down today, 36 of them riding the Baruto express.
sekihiryu Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 :-P hah! excellent! that just made my day! to all the suckers who backed the Baltic monster..... Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye I dont care if I crash out tomorrow, I am most satisfied to see the bandwagon tip- over! (Laughing...)
Anjoboshi Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I should have have picked Ryuo instead trusting Asofuji. (^^;) Played as usual the "pick every rikishi only one time" and as usual I'm out - but as usu... err ... always it was quite fun. ^_^
Asashosakari Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I should have have picked Ryuo instead trusting Asofuji. (^^;) At least I'm not the only one who was dumb enough to pick Asofuji. (Laughing...)
Torideyama Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 Carnage from Carnage Street. Only 14 left. 42 down today, 36 of them riding the Baruto express. Soooo, now that the train has crashed, how many of the rest of us are willing to put it back on the tracks?
aderechelsea Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 i promised myself i won't use that train. Anyway ... Baruto has a tricky opponent tomorrow, so i wouldn't bet on him "promise or no promise"
Kintamayama Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 4 more gone today, leaving 8 on day 9, which is good. One even took the Baruto Express at the next station.
Ruziklao Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Yeah, Roho was quite sure train to the next station, 6 men standing, including me (after all, I have posted a streak of bye-byes on day 1 since my joining Chain-Gang) ;-)
Jokkamura Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Finally the Baruto-Train might help if a tie-break is needed. In that case I'm not in as I've not used him very often. Has there ever been a tie-break after day 15?
aderechelsea Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 back in the days of Ozeki-Yokozuna picks i am sure there were a lot of those tie-breaks. not after the change of rules i am sure. To even reach day 15 is rare enough.
sekihiryu Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 hehe... Roho could have destroyed us all today but at 0-9 Otsupotsu was too tempting. Actually I initially chose Baruto but thought no - cant go there after my gloating, changed to Homasho, but then thought better of it and went with Roho. In the end it didnt matter! they all won. Actually I cant believe that I am still in it, I am a one bout, two bout man in this game. This is by far my best showing since the rule change. Only playing one daily game this basho too.

To even reach day 15 is rare enough. There is some chance we might make it to the tie-break this time. two days left and still no decision.

I think you are under the assumption that the tie-breaker is only good for senshuraku. It isn't. A tie can happen at any day if all remaining players lose.

Jokkamura Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Showdown on the final day. There is still a chance of a "final-day-winning-tie-breaker". :-) How many chain gang yushos are needed for the yokozuna title? (First prize...)
