Doitsuyama Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 (edited) Again all active yokozuna, ozeki and sekiwake won which makes them a collective 21-0 so far. That's unprecedented, as only once since 1909 no sekiwake or higher lost on the first three days, and this was in Hatsu 1934 with only one sekiwake and two ozeki, making it only a collective 9-0. Aki 1994 was coming close with only one loss in 18 such bouts with Musashimaru losing to Higonoumi on day 3. Haru 1983 also was 17-1 as Oshio beat Takanosato on day 2. The four ozeki looked good as they won without much difficulty. Kotomitsuki didn't get credit with a winning kimarite against Aminishiki as koshikudake is a losing "technique", just breaking down without significant contact. All together there are 12 leaders at 3-0 as five maegashira also are undefeated with Asasekiryu, Dejima, Futeno, shin-makuuchi Ryuo and Hokutoriki. Ryuo dominated the other shin-makuuchi Satoyama, beating him oshitaoshi. In juryo only three rikishi are undefeated with Ryuho, Daimanazuru and Baruto. Shirononami repeated the utchari against Wakanoho from last basho (which was also on day 3). -- Doitsuyama Day 3 Juryo Ms2e Takamifuji (2-0) hikiotoshi J13w Mokonami (2-1) J14e Chiyohakuho (2-1) hikiotoshi J12w Bushuyama (0-3) J12e Kobo (1-2) yorikiri J14w Kyokunankai (1-2) J11e Shirononami (2-1) utchari J13e Wakanoho (2-1) J10e Tamarikido (1-2) katasukashi J10w Asofuji (2-1) J11w Baruto (3-0) yorikiri J9e Takanowaka (0-3) J9w Daimanazuru (3-0) uwatenage J7w Katayama (1-2) J6w Toyohibiki (1-2) oshitaoshi J8w Koryu (2-1) J5w Shunketsu (2-1) oshidashi J8e Hakuba (1-2) J5e Kaiho (2-1) oshidashi J7e Toyozakura (1-2) J6e Jumonji (2-1) oshidashi J3w Tochisakae (0-3) J4w Ryuho (3-0) okuritaoshi J3e Goeido (1-2) J1w Tosanoumi (1-2) oshidashi J2w Hakurozan (1-2) J4e Masatsukasa (2-1) oshidashi J1e Yoshikaze (2-1) Makuuchi M15w Iwakiyama (1-2) yorikiri J2e Kitazakura (1-2) M14w Hochiyama (2-1) oshidashi M16w Kasuganishiki (1-2) M16e Hokutoriki (3-0) tsukidashi M13w Tochinohana (1-2) M13e Futeno (3-0) tsukiotoshi M15e Ushiomaru (0-3) M14e Ryuo (3-0) oshitaoshi M12w Satoyama (1-2) M11w Tochinonada (2-1) yorikiri M11e Otsukasa (0-3) M10e Dejima (3-0) yorikiri M12e Tamakasuga (0-3) M9e Roho (1-2) yorikiri M7e Takamisakari (2-1) M6w Kasugao (2-1) tsukiotoshi M9w Miyabiyama (1-2) M8w Asasekiryu (3-0) yorikiri M6e Tokitsuumi (0-3) M5w Kakuryu (2-1) uwatenage M7w Wakanosato (1-2) M1w Tokitenku (1-2) hatakikomi M5e Takekaze (0-3) M1e Homasho (1-2) oshidashi M2e Kokkai (0-3) S1w Ama (3-0) yorikiri K1e Toyonoshima (0-3) S1e Kotomitsuki (3-0) koshikudake M4e Aminishiki (2-1) O1w Kotooshu (3-0) yorikiri M4w Tochiozan (1-2) O1e Hakuho (3-0) kotenage M2w Tamanoshima (0-3) O3w Chiyotaikai (3-0) tsukidashi K1w Kotoshogiku (0-3) O2e Kaio (3-0) yorikiri M3e Kakizoe (0-3) Y1e Asashoryu (3-0) oshidashi M3w Kisenosato (1-2) Day 4 Juryo J13e Wakanoho (2-1) J14e Chiyohakuho (2-1) Ms2w Ichihara (1-1) J12w Bushuyama (0-3) J11e Shirononami (2-1) J14w Kyokunankai (1-2) J10e Tamarikido (1-2) J13w Mokonami (2-1) J9e Takanowaka (0-3) J12e Kobo (1-2) J11w Baruto (3-0) J9w Daimanazuru (3-0) J8e Hakuba (1-2) J10w Asofuji (2-1) J7e Toyozakura (1-2) J7w Katayama (1-2) J6e Jumonji (2-1) J8w Koryu (2-1) J5e Kaiho (2-1) J6w Toyohibiki (1-2) J4e Masatsukasa (2-1) J4w Ryuho (3-0) J3e Goeido (1-2) J5w Shunketsu (2-1) J2e Kitazakura (1-2) J3w Tochisakae (0-3) J1e Yoshikaze (2-1) J1w Tosanoumi (1-2) Makuuchi M15e Ushiomaru (0-3) J2w Hakurozan (1-2) M14e Ryuo (3-0) M16e Hokutoriki (3-0) M13e Futeno (3-0) M16w Kasuganishiki (1-2) M12e Tamakasuga (0-3) M15w Iwakiyama (1-2) M14w Hochiyama (2-1) M11w Tochinonada (2-1) M10e Dejima (3-0) M13w Tochinohana (1-2) M9e Roho (1-2) M12w Satoyama (1-2) M11e Otsukasa (0-3) M8w Asasekiryu (3-0) M7e Takamisakari (2-1) M9w Miyabiyama (1-2) M5e Takekaze (0-3) M7w Wakanosato (1-2) M4e Aminishiki (2-1) M6w Kasugao (2-1) M6e Tokitsuumi (0-3) M4w Tochiozan (1-2) M5w Kakuryu (2-1) M3w Kisenosato (1-2) M1e Homasho (1-2) K1w Kotoshogiku (0-3) S1e Kotomitsuki (3-0) K1e Toyonoshima (0-3) O2e Kaio (3-0) M2e Kokkai (0-3) M2w Tamanoshima (0-3) O1w Kotooshu (3-0) O1e Hakuho (3-0) M3e Kakizoe (0-3) S1w Ama (3-0) O3w Chiyotaikai (3-0) Y1e Asashoryu (3-0) M1w Tokitenku (1-2) Edited May 15, 2007 by Doitsuyama
Asashosakari Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Makes a nice contrast to January when no sanyaku were undefeated after three days...
Bealzbob Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Good to see Baruto continuing to do 'big man' sumo with a yorikiri win. Does he still look potentially 'fragile' or is he likely to get >12 wins? An unbeaten opponent tomorrow too.

Was there any basho, no kyuujyou and all Sekiwake, Ozeki, and Yokozuna won from Day1 to Day3? ~edit~ I've found the article Mainichi 105年も前の1902年(明治35年)5月場所以来 1902 Natsu-basho was the last time. It was 105 years ago. Edited May 15, 2007 by Gacktoh

Senpai Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Baruto - Day 3 / 3 wins / 3 yorikiri Everything looks promising altough it's just a start. Question for those who have seen he's bouts: How he looks? How about his sumo - are there any improvements?
Kaikitsune Makoto Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Oh nooooo..O3 failed utterly at the tachi-ai giving Osh morozashi! Didn't see that coming. We shall all put it on nervousness and forget this bout ever happened. Very awkward tachi-ai and expression of face indicated a deep regret. Goeido screwed up too by giving morozashi to Ryuho (who was injured prior to basho and didn't do that good keiko..) but valiantly went for some leg hook and kubinage but was in too bad position. Genki he is though. That utchari by Shiro was absolutely brilliant. I agree with Nishinoshima that it could have been some other technique too as it wasn't really a sacrifize throw but rather an attack. Wakanoho didn't have very solid position despite the pivot and Shiro dumped him on his back in spectacular manner. Tsuriotoshi would describe the mood of the finish better. Toyohibiki finally delivered without a shock. Nice overpowering killer surge against Koryu the Mongolian. It is very very very sad, very very very sad that Toyonoshima is injured. He shows again he belongs to komusubi. Homasho was indeed classy. Simply outpowered Kokkai without any sideways stuff. Just powerful stuff. Baruto looks ok. He is very strong so such locked up yotsu in juryo goes his way especially for now since his foes have been quite mediocre to say the least. Knee hasn't been tested. Tomorrow he will have some power yotsu against behemoth Daimanazuru. Ryuo the God.

If he continues this sumo, he will never get injured again.
