Natsu 07 Day 1

Amazing day from the Keiko I watched in the morning until the Meeting in the park after.

First of all I want to say that Kaiho had a giant bout but lost in the end. ;-) But it made me realize once more why he is my active favorite. He gave everything he has, showed skill and no damn Hatakikomi I see much to many. That was real Sumo. :-)

Shimoda finally with Chon mage...still a very cute one ;-)

Masunoyama (great kid from Chiganoura) must be the next to have one. He had a great win today showing powersumo. (I hope I get the video uploaded)

Hoshihikari lost today cause he was too nervous. On day 2 he will fight in Juryo with an O icho for the first time. Guess he would feel much better without any spectator. GANBARE!!! (Applauding...)

When it came to Juryo Dohyo iri and Baruto came in with O icho mage (looked so fake cause of it's color), the crowd was beating for him like a giant heart. That made me very happy. Guess in japanese I would say びっくりした. Baruto himself was very happy too and you could almost see his feelings coming up. He smiled shy and it was like a promise of him to all of us-"I'll do my best" was to read in his face.

A cool thing was happening before the bout of of Mr. Shiko and Hakuba- a very cool and nice guy. He put a "Ha, what do you want?!" nirami ai face on and did the Shiko as good as his opponent. :-D

Hakuho gave the Shihai back. Hope he will lift it up again in 14 days. (Applauding...)

The 2 new Yusho portraits were shown...one replaced Kotomitsuki from Aki Basho 2001...

Roho and Miyabiyama- that was a thing. After Miyabiyama's Matta, it looked like one more Matta, even the 2 Rikishi thought so, but the Gyoji let it go and Miyabiyama won over a surprized and not yet ready Roho.

The crowd was booing, almost everybody exept Kokonoe as headshinpan was expecting it to be a second Matta.

Roho's blood was boiling when he walked the way back into Shitakubeya, I could look into the Hanamichi and saw him throwing his towell at his Tsukebito. Ohhh oooooohhhhhhhhh was my first thought, having the incident with him and Chiyotaikai in mind....then reporters talked to him...I wanna know what he said. Must have been that he felt fooled...

You talk about feeling old! When KaioU and TenhoU retire*, there won't be a single "original" rikishi left from the time I started following sumo on Eurosport. And soon now I'll be older than 90 % of banzuke. Third-life crisis sucks. (Heart...)

*and Otsu, Nada, Tosa and Tamakasuga, but hey, it wouldn't sound so dramatic

Great pictures! I really enjoyed seeing the closeup of Baruto! I guess I didn't realize that his hear was THAT much lighter!! Wow! Good Job!
