"If there is anyone wishing to be my wife, please come to the heya!". Takamisakari sent a plea to the world at large two days before his 31st birthday. A day after Ushiomaru announced his marriage plans with the aesthetician babe, he seems to have contracted the "Lonesome Guy Blues" and envy has taken over. After going for degeiko at Kasugano, he said: "All my drinking buddies are from the Sumo world. I've never gone on a mixed date.. A regular date? I've never been that suave.. If you set up such a meeting, I would surely go..". Last year, the famous "tarento" Amichan said she was a "huge fan" of his and came to visit him at the shitakubeya. "I was totally starstruck, and I never heard from her again..", he lamented, plucking his hair. After pondering for a minute, he said:"OK, if there's a woman out there who is interested in me, let her show herself at the heya.. I don't mind if it will be a joint party or a one-on-one meal.. But I don't think any woman in her right mind will come for a useless guy like me.." He had only one condition: "I can't figure out celebs, so I'd like an 'ordinary' woman.."

Hehehehe...

that's marketing (In jonokuchi...)

I'll check the Sumo Beya map again (Clapping wildly...)

Were was his Heya? :-D

JOKING!

I am still unsure how much of what he shows is acting. The figure Takamisakari seemes to be too clever created to be created. Is he really like that?

Off topic: I am afraid of the storm outside...Mommy :-)

I think he is. I've seen him twice walking around Okachimachi and Akihabara shopping alone the past few months. I really think he's down in the dumps as he has no sumo friends that hangs out with him anymore like the report says. Usually I never see the same sumo wrestler twice in a row with out a group of other sumos with them or if they are alone they are usually the married ones. Poor guy!

Maybe, I didn't get it right. But I often read that Takamisakari shares the passion for fishing with Ushiomaru and Kaio. Of course, the Ozeki has been married for years, and Maru is now engaged too, so they spend more time on their relationships.

But as a sekitori you have a lot of work to do anyway, and I really cant imagine a popular guy like Takamisakari having only a couple of friends.

Maybe it has something to do with his personality? Is he an unkindly person apart from media reports? (But I can't hardly imagine!)

I can judge by his appearance only, but he reminds me of some people I know who have a very straightforward personality as well (to put it in the most gentle way). They are not "unkindly" at all, even extremely friendly, but staying close to them gets rather tedious after a while. I guess everybody knows some people who are fun to meet now and then, but not exactly the kind you want to go on vacation with, let alone marry. ;-)

Well his marriage request is quite comical and his demeanor is such too but seems like a decent human unlike...well you know. But maybe is a bit too odd and looks scary when he is in semi-delirium. Ilovesumo should marry a SUMO as she swims in that world like a fish. Sakke's Japanese is somewhat unclear so good step to get onto next level now after months and months of Japanese exposure. Kato Verena, se on kohta Verena Kato. And besides Sakke's mom has been getting on his case lately saying he should find a woman and marry so she would be happy to meet a German blond as her son's future wife...or not if Sakke's mom thinks "No foreigner shall marry my son and steal him!!!" like many seem to do. Life is life. I wonder if Sakke knows how to pull sheets?

but then he won't have a Japanese Okamisan when he inherits Azumazeki beya ... B-)

he's a funny guy ... maybe too funny to get married soon .

:-D

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I have a friend just like that. I can only be with them for a short time. If we spend longer time together, then she gets on my nerves! I can only take a little bit of time with her. It's not that she's bad person or unkind.... Just can get on your nerves and makes me tired!

I can't imagine being married to someone like that! But they say there is someone for everyone, right? I hope he finds his someone soon...

I have an ex like that. No one can stand him for more than two hours, poor thing. But one thing can be said for people like that: they are never boring. People like that may require large amounts of patience though...

Sure, I'd take him out for a date, he seems like a fun guy. We could go fishing and drink apple juice. Candle lit dinners are overrated. :-S

Robo is flustered. Before the basho, he announced that he was in search of a female companion. Then, with the media all over him, he insisted that he is "concentrating solely on sumo." But, one of the ubiquitous weekly magazines, called "Friday," came up with a scoop--Takami was sighted last week at a "gokon" (social mixer).

The press is making a big deal about what is now known as the "Friday Shock"--Robo with a bunch of girls. However, the Friendless One denies it: "It was just a birthday party (he had turned 31 last week). Nothing more."

The gentleman doth protest too much: "I didn't even exchange e-mail addresses [with any of the cuties]. Some people were just trying to cheer me on before the basho."

Finally, he did acknowledge that he is searching. "I don't care if she's a celebrity (tarento) or an average person. Come one; come all."

"Friday" Magazine (Internet Version, members only) The Takami sample is the third on the left.

Robocop was caught by the paparazzi at an izakaya (tavern) in Kabuki-cho on the eve of his birthday. He was with several rikishi and a number of young ladies. Takami seemed to be embarrassed and angry to be the target of the weekly gossip rags and took it out in the ring on hapless Otsukasa, who is having problems of his own.

"Hey, I'm hung up these days on the mah-jongg game on my PC," he insisted. "I play it for about two hours every night to get 'idle thoughts' out of my mind before I go to sleep." He had been told by his mom never to gamble, so he satisfies himself in the cyber environment. He had purchased his $3,000 (300,000 yen) computer in February. Maybe, that's why he has been observed shopping in Akihabara by a forum member.

"I have a difficult time talking to women--one on one," (Applauding...) he admitted. But, he believes if he does well on the dohyo (Applauding...) , (and prays real hard (Applauding...)), the girls will come . . . (Applauding...)
