Not only was the age not mentioned but any details to identify her (name, etc..) were not mentioned either, and it was specifically noted.. Could she be the mystery lady? "I feel more focused after getting married. I am able to again feel the support of people around me. From here on I won't be alone and I realize that I will be taking care of a family. I won't be a child forever, I want to be a serious adult mentally. Now that I have a family I need to be aiming higher and higher. I am aiming to get back to sanyaku and even higher, and even hope to win the yusho. I have been breathing the same air as my wife since we were kids so we eat the same kind of food. When we are together we are at ease and i enjoy that," he said. Edited August 8, 2022 by Kintamayama 2 2

Akinomaki Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 (edited) Friday today reports about the Bunshun article, mentioned there is that Terutsuyoshi had registered his marriage to a friend of the daughter of Isegahama-oyakata in August. o On 08/12/2022 at 11:02, Seiyashi said: Terutsuyoshi was kyūjō from the jungyō, ostensibly for tonsilitis, but then was caught at a reptile show in street clothes recently. A source says he has already been disciplined internally, though it's not clear whether by Isegahama or the NSK. It also says that he's actually secretly married already, and further that the reason for his zenpai last basho was apparently a worsening of his diabetes. He couldn't do any keiko before the basho. He had bad results all year and after the marriage, at the Aki basho was neither better nor worse. The 0-15 rather came due to the cautioning by the NSK for inappropriate behaviour. Others were suspended after fake kyujo, with basically the same 0-15 as a result. 1

Mentally he was suspended, absent, so it's like a 0-0-15 after suspension. But I wrote "rather", so this is not the sole cause. Rather this than the marriage is what I meant. Ok, that's something of an explanation for his zenpai, I guess. But they didn't suspend him, so now I'm struggling to see his performance as anything other than not trying hard enough...

They can correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like what Akinomaki is suggesting is that Terutsuyoshi was burdened by the unbearable weight of shame at letting down his Oyakata, his heya, perhaps his new bride, and himself, and this greatly impacted his performance. Or it might have just been injuries, because a small rikishi like Terutsuyoshi doesn't make it as far as he has without plenty of try hard in reserve. 1

Isegahama's daughter had told him "I want you to meet somebody", they dined together, watched baseball together and it developed into a relationship. They registered the marriage on August 10th. http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/202301050000690.html no mention of the disaster basho - he's still in the newly wed mood, counting on the support of his wife 1
Kintamayama Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Terutsuyoshi himself said today it was diabetes. Today he trained with Atamifuji and Nishikifuji for about 30 bouts. "I'm pretty much ready but I till can't move forward well. I couldn't win at all and it felt like I couldn't generate any power. Stuff i used to be able to do during a bout could not be done and I thought that was strange. My sugar level was over 400 and the insulin I shot during the basho was not able to control it. I got back from Kyushu and changed my medicine, and now i am better," he explained. He could have withdrawn mid-basho, but he didn't, scoring that shameful 0-15 record. "No goo will come from becoming gloomy after losing all my bouts. If I get injured and lose all my bouts that would probably influence the next basho as well, but this isn't the same case. Whatever the record, win or lose, the fact I remained on the dohyo is something I can build on," he added. "As always I'll gambarize and hope to avoid injury-and return to the upper echelons soon," he summed. 1
