Engagement and marriage are important, engagement is a purely private affair, marriage mostly: the registration is to inform the authorities that you have married and to create a new family registry of the 2, who are up to then registered with their parents. The registration part is very unceremonious, you only have to hand in the form with the seals of the 2 and the witnesses, no need for them to be present. Divorce is just as easy - a few years ago there was an old story in a tabloid of an okamisan who got tricked with false information into putting the seal on the divorce paper and the oyakata similarly was persuaded to divorce her.

After Takayasu similarly, now Terunofuji had the 3rd wedding ceremony, yesterday in Mongolia o - for this he had to come out of kyujo and now has to take part in the jungyo from the start

Seriously? If you go kyujo you can't do anything in public? Not really sure how attending a reception has anything to do with his ability to do sumo.

Not 100% serious. In public yes, but not go overseas to play around - only for treatment. I think Takanohana was somewhere in Europe on a cure for a while during his record breaking kyujo.

Of course, nowadays nobody may care anymore. In the past yokozuna got fired for watching a game, not just for playing (but at kyujo during a day of work).

So, to avoid any possible criticism, Terunofuji came out of kyujo.

A proper rikishi only goes kyujo if he needs a wheelchair (like Kiho).

Not really a marriage but Tochinoshin had a child with a (Japanese?) woman and her name isn’t Anastasia. I guess this means he’s not returning to Georgia anytime soon…

He's been equally active on Twitter following retirement. Had no idea that his newborn was from a different "source" though. Maybe that's why the apparent change of plans to remain in Japan.

Kotoeko was interviewed today about it and revealed nothing about his fiancée, but his father did, who was interviewed by a local paper. She is from Fukuoka pref. and they have a long distance relationship for six years. https://www.the-miyanichi.co.jp/kennai/_73252.html

The city halls in Japan seem to have a special service: registered at 0h on Christmas Day - Holy night.

Chiyomaru (32) married Kiho (30), a cabin attendant originally from Nagasaki pref. They met at the Winter jungyo 2019 in Nagasaki, after the Kyushu basho, where she had watched him on day 13. They have a relation since February 2020 and are engaged since May this year.

Another Dewanoumi ichimon big party today: Mitakeumi had his wedding reception, with about 500 guests, mainly NSK related. Before he was at the Hoshoryu party, which had started at noon - he had announced the wedding in January 2 years ago
