But it wasn't a pure smile at all, rather the kind of smile that is masking an inner rage and planning revenge. In fact, I'd say that smile marks the beginning of the first real chapter of their rivalry. Every thing before that was just a prelude. Asa will be ruthless the next time they meet, and I doubt he will ever willingly meet Hakuho for degeiko.

Oh, this one took me awhile, but now that I've got it, very funny! (he's not talking to you silly Adere-san...) The conspiracy theory is Chiyotaikai paid Hakuho to pull the henka for retribution. (Neener, neener...) Nice try, but I think Chiyotaikai would much rather exact retribution himself.
