Hashira Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 are there any good, free programs i can download for typing in japanese? i have been until now using the trial version of njstar, which doesnt self-destruct after the trial period is over, but i have found it does not work with the new msn and various other programs. any suggestions?
Doitsuyama Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Try JWPce. I use it all the time. It's freeware and has lots of features. For example you can set the export format for the clipboard which sounds like what you need...
Zenjimoto Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 'xuse me, but isn't all you need the Global IME (Japanese) from Microsoft, which you can download for free? I have it, and it appears to let me type in kana and kanji in literally all applications by flipping the little button on the task bar... ? Cheers Zenjimoto
Yoavoshimaru Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 I use the IME (Input Method Editor) as well, downloaded from microsoft.com. I'm not a big M$ fan, but this seems to work well enough (I also use the Hebrew one without problems).
Doitsuyama Posted July 15, 2003 Posted July 15, 2003 Of course the IME is good enough. But JWPce has LOADS of features which the IME doesn't have. See the export format of the clipboard as an example. Then there is a HUGH J-E dictionary. And LOTS of kanji lookup methods to search kanji/words you don't know the reading for.
