Golynohana Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Hello all sumo gamers! The Sekitori-Oracle and Sekitori-Quadrumvirate games are back. You can play them on my new site: http://www.sumogames.info/Golynohana This site is located on sumogames.com server, and there are some problems with it currently. It suddenly goes down and comes back after 5-10 minutes. It happens like every 30 minutes. So if you can't access this site, try again later. I ask you for patience. The Sekitori oracle deadline is March 11th, 2 PM JST, so about 2 days and 9 hours from now. To play Sekitori-quad you have to register as well. Note: 1) The user name is not equal to shikona in the game. During creating an account, you will be asked to add shikona for every game you want to play (step 3 of registration process). If you fail to do so, you won't have access to the game(s). 2) If you played already one of these games (or both), add the same shikona you used before. Otgerwise you will be treated as a not ranked new player. I wish everyone much fun at playing SO and SQ Golynohana.
Golynohana Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 Day 1 torikumi is in database. You can send your picks for Sekitori-Q now.
Golynohana Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 If you want kosho for Haru basho in Sekitori-Quadrumvirate, please send me an e-mail about it. The web site will not accept the kosho request now - this is a bug and I will fix it soon.
Doitsuyama Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I have entered both games now. While the Sekiquad entry form is very good, I have never met something as cumbersome as the Seki-Oracle entry form. Please do anything possible to go back to the everything-on-one-page style. It can't be right to select 70 different entry form from 5 pages and fill one information per form.
Golynohana Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 I will do another version of entry form for the next basho. Right now i can only change 5 pages to 2 - makuuchi on first and juryo on second.

Well, that would just reduce the pageload from 75 to 72, so you can for now just as well leave it as it is.

Asashosakari Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 FWIW, one of the biggest time wasters is (for me anyway) that the "pen" icon is at the far left of the screen while the "Update" button is as the far right, so you're always sweeping the whole screen with the mouse in between the selections (and now even scrolling up and down with 2 instead of 5 pages, which actually makes things go even slower than before). Adding "Next" and "Previous" buttons next to Update could speed things up significantly, even without redoing the entire form. After all, 99% of the time, once you've entered the M1w pick you'll want to enter M2e next, etc.
Jejima Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Many thanks for getting these games back up (In a state of confusion...) (Clapping wildly...) (Clapping wildly...) ...but I will be requesting a Kosho from Oracle, as I prefer to wait for the new form for next basho :-)
Asashosakari Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 (edited) Quick note from your neighbourhood banzuke maker: If you're a previous player who shows up with a rank of "-" on the results pages (Oracle, Quad), please either contact Golynohana (for technical reasons, such as you've misspelled your shikona on registration) or contact me (in case you've decided to change your shikona since the Hakkeyoi days) to get things resolved. Golynohana Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 oops, i am really sorry. In 5 minutes it will be fixed.
Fujisan Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Well I personally have no clue whatsoever how to enter Sekitori oracle,I'm sat here looking at a list of 0-15's and I dont know how to change them. HHHHHHHEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!
Golynohana Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 Click the pen icon which is situated next shikona. You will see a box. Click Edit, thet choose the score from drop-down list and press update. Repeat 70 times (Blushing...)

Zeokage Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I wonder if this system is possible... All the shikona are in a list on one side of the screen, and the possible scores are on the other side. Drag the shikona into a box under the score you predict them having. Is drag and drop even possible to code?
kaiguma Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 (edited) Thank you Golynohana. I think you've made a lot of people very happy. As I recently heard a decent politician say: "You can't sacrifice the good for the perfect." And I believe it is a very good thing that we have SO and S4 back! I wonder if this system is possible...All the shikona are in a list on one side of the screen, and the possible scores are on the other side. Drag the shikona into a box under the score you predict them having. Is drag and drop even possible to code? The drag and drop is an interesting solution, but i think it requires an interactive platform like java or flash. That might make things more complicated in the long run. I would be satisfied with individual pull-down menus for each rikishi on the five pages. This way you could 'update' your picks 5 times and be done. They don't have to all be on one or two pages. At least with 5 pages you could see them all on the screen at the same time. And as an addition to Asashosakari's NEXT and PREVIOUS suggestion, I thought of this too while entering Oracle forms with dial-up connection. (I finally got my DSL back thanks for nothing Verizon) My idea was slightly different: to have an UPDATE button as well as UPDATE>>>NEXT and UPDATE<<<PREVIOUS options which would update and automatically bring you to the next selection up or down the banzuke. This would cut the pageload in half, or even to 1/3? At any rate, the product so far is great! Thanks again. :-) Edited March 10, 2007 by kaiguma
Oshirokita Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 oof, the process to enter Sekitori Oracle is too long for me. I have been meaning to cut it out of my list anyway, so I will now declare Intai from Seki-Oracle. I am going to play Seki-Quad, though! - Oshirokita, FTGWN
Guest Akatabi Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I think I never got the chance to set my shikona (Akatabi) when I registered for the site. Nowhere to click on the last page of registration to go to shikona selection. Could you enter shikona Akatabi for me and give me kosho status for this basho? Thanks, and thanks for takinng over the games. Glenn Holm/Akatabi (btw your email contact formtimed out on me)

Thanks, and thanks for takinng over the games. FWIW, I bet you could simply register a new account (Akatabi2 or something) and set your shikona in that one if you do want to play this basho. (Small drawback being that you'd have to remember a different username, of course.) Not sure if you'd consider that worthwhile At any rate, on the banzuke I plan to keep giving automatic kosho for the first missed basho, so there's no need to worry about that. (Unless somebody already missed Aki basho, I guess...) Edited March 11, 2007 by Asashosakari

Vikanohara Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 (edited) Great God Almighty, I like this Sekitori-Quad game. (Whistling...) On day 1 only 7 people managed to score a win, with me being one of them. :-) I hope I can continue this way. Edited March 11, 2007 by Vikanohara
Asashosakari Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 (edited) I've noticed that eight Oracle players quite obviously didn't complete their entries and have zero-win picks for almost all rikishi. Unless one of them is just dying to receive the inevitable 0-15 record, I'm planning to exclude the entries and award those players kosho instead. Gonna be an interesting banzuke next time, what with only about 70 players of the ~150 on the banzuke showing up. Ditto for S4, although maybe some more players will join mid-way there. (If anyone has thoughts on how to deal with this, I'm open to suggestions.) Edited March 11, 2007 by Asashosakari

Sounds like you've volunteered for the most difficult banzuke-making since the one following the Shunjuen incident. (Showing respect...) I don't envy you, but I do remember seeing on the forum some very specific descriptions of how banzuke was made in a scenario where so many rikishi were suddenly missing. And then some returned later, no? I think there were temporary promotions on the next banzuke, and then a weighting of performances over the following 3 basho, by which time many of the exodused rikishi had returned? My memory is fuzzy, but if you found that thread, it might actually help as a case-study. I hope it's not as difficult as I've made it out to be. :-D Edited March 12, 2007 by kaiguma
