sekihiryu Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 seeing as they are located just a few minutes away I dropped by this morning for a quick look that turned into about 2 hours (Holiday feeling...) anyway no Homasho but the Oyakata was their wearing a yutaka - a mawashi underneath perhaps? - he didnt take it off; however, he certainly got his wooden plank into action again, he is strict taskmaster indeed. The main action on the Dohyo was Seiro the Mongolian who has beefed up a bit since last Haru and has a lot more ring presence than last year, he has great balance and is very tenacious and is very much in the mold of his compatriate Ama, he was by far the best rikishi there and looks likes he has the potential to be Sekitori. Seiro got a huge workout along with Tomishoma and Tsukinowa got most of the ring time today and Seiro was beating them comprehensively until the end when he began loosing out of sheer exhaustion, he had nothing left in the tank and barely had the strength for butsukari. It looked like there was bunch of new recruits there and they were a pretty sad meek bunch scrawny bunch at that! Cousin "It" takes up sumo..... Samson .....was Mongolian!
Doyobi Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 How's Tsukinowa doing? Healthy and genki or not so much? He had 2 MKs in a row, 2-5 each, I wonder what was wrong.
philafuji Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 (edited) These are some of my favorite posts, and photo's to go with them make it even better. It is great to see and read about keiko. It is nice to know how much work is put in when training for a basho. Thank you for this information. Philafuji Edited March 5, 2007 by Exil Quote removed.

Gacktoh Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 sekihiryu-san Thank you for the information. SEIROU is one of my Favourite Rikishi. I believe that SEIROU will be a Sekitori in few years time. At this momet he dose not have enough weight. That is the biggest problem for him. But still I believe that he will be a sekitori. (Holiday feeling...)

Philafuji I know you're new around here, so you probably don't know any better, but please don't quote entire posts like that. You've just managed to repost every single picture that was already posted by Sekihiryu. That's completely unnecessary, we've already seen the pics in the first post.
sekihiryu Posted March 7, 2007 Author Posted March 7, 2007 (edited) video now available. I also went for a quick look on the 6th but again no Homasho was to be seen, degeiko again I guess, no Teraomaru either. The oyakata was in a filthy mood and Teraosho bore the wrath of it, the poor kid I was really starting to feel sorry for him, he wasnt doing something right and at one point the oyakata hit him so hard with his plank that the plank snapped in half! much the same as the day before with seiro tomishima Tsukinowa plus Teraosho and some guys I couldnt identify and havent seen before. I wonder who they were? Very intense keiko indeed. Edited March 7, 2007 by sekihiryu
aderechelsea Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 but again no Homasho was to be seen, degeiko again I guess. that's what Kintamayama wrote in the Hiramaku thread .... so possibly no degeiko either. Houmashou is injured. He injured his left elbow in keiko yesterday. In a match against Toyonoshima, he aggravated an injury he suffered three days ago. He was on the receiving end of a dashinage, stubbornly held on, and heard a "baki baki" sound. He immediately stopped the keiko and put cold water on the affected area. He has been taking an each way 10,000 yen taxi ride from his heya to Tokitsukaze-beya for keiko daily, and a few days from shonichi, there is cause for concern.
sekihiryu Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 thats not cool! injured, bummer. Also a 10000yen taxi ride!, shoot I would take him for free in my car, beats a 10000yen taxi ride! stopped by for 30mins today on my way to aikido, much of the same as the past few days, Teraomaru was there for a change, looked in good shape but Seiro had the best of him in most of their bouts. He seems like he should be much better than bouncing around Jonidan and Jonokuchi like he has been. Masaru wasnt training his armed was heavily bandaged around the wrist forearm area - didnt look good at all.
