aderechelsea Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 and suddenly this topic has lost its appeal ... If you don't have a special rikishi you pay attention to it is a bit dull to watch those bouts after the yusho is decided (or went to a last day kettei-sen). now that i am giving it a second look we still have the Masumeidai-Kojima bout to wait for, as well as Sugishita's last attempt for a win in this basho. i also want to see Morioka getting his 5th win that will help him climp a few more spots (or rather a lot more spots) in the banzuke.
Gacktoh Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Day 14 January 2007 Makushita E-ms10 Furuichi (3-3) vs W-ms7 Tochinoyama (3-3) Naganoyama-san Do you take records of kimarite ? Furuichi was KK last basho by 4-3. His 4 wins' kimarite were all KAINAHINERI. This basho so far Furuichi is 3-3. His 3 wins' kimarite were all KAINAHINERI as well. So I've wondered last Aki-basho...... (Clapping wildly...) I believe this is a kind of special record of Kimarite.

(I am not worthy...) if this isn't a "one trick pony" then i don't know what !!!! trully amazing though ... (Blushing...) I would like to read Doitsuyama's stat comment on that.
Kaikitsune Makoto Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Furuichi's kainahineri is like Kasugao's kotenage. Everyone knows it will come but it is very difficult to defend against. There are bouts where Furuichi does the kainahineri move even 10 times before it finally succeeds and the foe can only try to survive each attempt before succumbing to yet another kainahineri. Furuichi doesn't have much else actually. He has no chance to do anything on the belt against stronger makushita foes and certainly doesn't push anyone out so what he does is kainahineri over and over again. Just kainahineri. When he went for a date and the date leaned over to give a cute kiss, Furuichi allegedly reacted with kainahineri too and was scolded and hissed. Many rikishi hiss around as a greeting to another rikishi. "ossss" you can hear repeatedly. It is kind of funny and pleasant greeting. From now on I will greet all patients with "ossssss" and a slight nod.
Naganoyama Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 Day 14 January 2007 Makushita E-ms10 Furuichi (3-3) vs W-ms7 Tochinoyama (3-3) Naganoyama-san Do you take records of kimarite ? So I've wondered last Aki-basho...... (Clapping wildly...) I believe this is a kind of special record of Kimarite. This is very interesting. His kainahineri streak is actually 8 as his last win in Aki was also kainahineri. Aki Basho he had 4 wins but only that one kainahineri - the others were isamiashi, katasukashi and tsukiotoshi Of the records I hold, not all have kimarite. Of those with kimarite, he has 44 kainahineri and the next commonest are hikiotoshi 12 and yorikiri 12. Doitsuyama has more information.

Well, his last win in Aki was kainahineri too (the other three not), so that's 8 kainahineri in a row now. He has 46 known kainahineri until now (I am missing most of the kimarite between 1998 Natsu and 2001 Aki), with all other rikishi together having 158 kainahineri. Another specialty of him is zubuneri which he has done four times with all other rikishi together 10 times, one from Kagaya today.

Often those katasukashi and tsukiotoshi are also "kainahineri" when it comes to Furuichi's bouts. Especially katasukashi is just a kainahineri attempt that was registered as katasukashi and Furuichi's tsukiotoshi is often also similar kainahineri retreat move that just doesn't fully go as kainahineri.

Yes, Furuichi has five katasukashi which his much more than normal in it's own right, while five tsukiotoshi aren't that much. But he has 17 hikiotoshi in my list which also is more than normal and fits with the kainahineri tactic, No hatakikomi.
madorosumaru Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 During a stretch between '06 Haru and Nagoya, Furuichi won 7 of 8 bouts by kaina-hineri, including all four victories in Haru. He started Nagoya on a roll with two straight such wins, but then, on Day 5, just to show that even a monkey can fall off a tree, Hokutokuni gave him a taste of his own medicine by twisting him by arm into the dohyo dirt. Oooh, bitter medicine! Very red face for monkey in addition to his normally red coulo. Kaina-hineri Red-bottom monkey looking very dejected after being tossed off the tree by challenger monkey's kaina-hineri.

This is what I wanted to know. I mentioned Furuichi and kainahineri several times in the lower division results. Well, his last win in Aki was kainahineri too (the other three not), so that's 8 kainahineri in a row now. 8 Kainahineri in a row !!!!! I really want Furuichi to win by Kainahineri today again. (Sign of approval...) Another specialty of him is zubuneri which he has done four times with all other rikishi together 10 times, one from Kagaya today. Thank you for your information again. (Nodding yes...) I do not remember that he won by Zubuneri. That's interesting. If he can do Zubuneri, someday he might do AMIUCHI. :-) Edited January 20, 2007 by Gacktoh
