Phoenix Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Kotooshu pulled a henka! lol I can't remember ever seeing him do that! How often HAS he pulled that stunt? Kisenosato looked PO'd!
Zeokage Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I think I remember something similar between these two happening sometime in the last couple of basho.
Quintalomaru Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 He did it against Miyabiyama, in 2005 i think.
aderechelsea Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 if this wasn't sarcasm then you must have missed a lot of his bouts...
ilovesumo Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 if this wasn't sarcasm then you must have missed a lot of his bouts... Sou desu ne... Was a cool moment after that happened- the crowd was mumbling "oh my god, what did the ozeki do" (I am not worthy...)
Shimpu Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 if this wasn't sarcasm then you must have missed a lot of his bouts... (I am not worthy...)
ilovesumo Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Was a cool moment after that happened- the crowd was mumbling "oh my god, what did the ozeki do" I was three seats from the dohyo and believe me they weren't mumbling. There were quite a few strong comments thrown his way. Some booing too. I was standing in the last row- can be a different impression, don't you think? (I am not worthy...)
Asashosakari Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Got to give it to him, that looked a lot more competent than any of Roho's henkas last basho. (I am not worthy...) Maybe he was going for ketaguri...
aderechelsea Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Maybe he was going for ketaguri... now THIS is good forum sarcasm ...... (I am not worthy...)
ilovesumo Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Maybe he was going for ketaguri... now THIS is good forum sarcasm ...... (Clapping wildly...) indeed (I am not worthy...)
stunny Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 if asashoryu can do it, why the ozeki cant do it? i dont believe kotooshu afraid kisenosato. i tend to believe it was more a revenge than anything else.
Shimpu Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 i dont believe kotooshu afraid kisenosato. I DO. (Laughing...)
Naganoyama Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Kisenosato didn't learn his lesson after all. Anyone can pull a henka, whatever rank.
Fay Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Was a cool moment after that happened- the crowd was mumbling "oh my god, what did the ozeki do" I was three seats from the dohyo and believe me they weren't mumbling. There were quite a few strong comments thrown his way. Some booing too. I was standing in the last row- can be a different impression, don't you think? (Laughing...) This was the first time I heard a concert of whistles in the KK.

This was the first time I heard a concert of whistles in the KK. (Showing respect...) can't have been watching that long then Fay. Happens, I'd guestimate, 2 or 3 times a year at the Kokugikan. I was up at the back yesterday and definitely heard booing and whistling after Kotooshu's bout. I actually heard a bit of mumbling early on in the day too at a couple of the jonidan / sandanme bouts but nothing that had the majority of the crowd's vocal cords in-sync. Funniest part was perhaps 2 old Japanese men who were sat in the main stand early on. I was sat a masu-seki behind them and in front of us all, down in heaven's waiting room, an old foreign woman was flitting back and to, taking pics, not really sitting still - distraction from the dohyo for some. Jama na gaijin was the first comment I heard and both men, for 20-30 odd minutes used her as the butt of many wife, women, jokes before, and this was the funniest part of all, they rolled over and went to sleep - in-sync. Whoever she was, and I haven't seen her there before - looked a bit like the shimpan 'white wolf' with a full head of grey, she obviously had a festish for older rikishi and the non-Japanese rikishi as they must have taken up most of her film.
SalParadise Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Kisenosato was looking at the dohyo, not at Kotooshuu, and he didn't stand a chance. Ugly sumo, but you think he would have learned by now? Kisenosato dropped like Iwakiyama does when he gets henka'd. Sack o' taters.
kaiguma Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 "Will that boy (Kise) ever learn?" does not equal "Osh acted honorably and in a way befitting a true Champion." So we can say Kise has much to learn and Osh is fast becoming a big hairy P**sy. These are not mutually exclusive. I hope that both can correct their ways. And after the bout, I've never seen anyone looking more pissed than Kisenosato did, even Asashoryu! So by that standard he's certainly Yokozuna material! [EDIT: remind self: respond in feedback subforum: 'Pansy' always appears as above in original post]
