And here are some news about Superbanzuke and the Masters Series:

Unfortunately Zenjimoto stepped down from administrating these two gorgeous gaming features. Therefore I'd like at first to thank him for years of dutiful service, and I'll do so by bowing so deep that Homasho would start blushing. (Spooky TV program...) ;-) :-)

Zenjimoto has offered to me the honor of continuing this invaluable service. I will try my best to hold his brainchild in due respect.

However, I need your help. In how far? I will continue to collect all relevant data from SB games. In addition, I will try to write something nice about the Masters series when handing out the Green Mawashi and the Masters sansho.

As of now, all these data are buried in Excel sheets. And that is exactly where my knowledge ends.

There is some work involved in getting those data from Excel sheets into a Website, and I don't have the slightest clue about anything involved in that conversion.

Zenjimoto has suggested two modes of operation:

1) He does something called URL forwarding. I don't know what this entails, but it probably means the stuff will be located on another server.

2) Someone (who is not me) does the conversion from the sheets into a Website, probably keeping track of all the graphical elements (player photographs, flags etc.), and prepares all the technical stuff so that Zenjimoto only has to press the "upload" button on superbanzuke.com.

I have no idea what is the better method, and I don't care as long as the job gets done. If you are willing to help in this matter, please indicate in this thread (so that others know) and contact me via PM or e-mail.

I can do the html conversion, if nobody else wants to do it.

Thank you for the kind offer. Meanwhile, I was informed that the sheets I've been working with for several months already contain a macro for HTML conversion (Spooky TV program...), so my request in this matter was a little premature. Unfortunately, the macros aren't working properly, but I hope this can be fixed soon. There are other technicalities to be solved, but since they have to do with my inaptitude in understanding how such things work, they might bore you all to death. I'll keep you informed as soon as I have grasped what needs to be done to get this thing going.

Thanks very much to Randomitsuki for keeping the SB alive. Yes, I forgot to mention to him that the excel sheet has these nifty macros. FWIW, let me also mention that Doitsuyama was the original author of these macros, which have proed invaluable over the months I administered the SB and Masters. (Sign of approval...)

I would like to sincerely thank all the interested friends and players who are offering help and are keeping the Sekitori-Games as well as the SB and related things running, and/or who are working on getting them back online! (I am not worthy...) (Showing respect...)

Looking forward to what comes next!

Cheers,

Zenjimoto

Sekirori oracle and quad update:

The games are playable. Both games have their entry forms, registration pages and simple results pages. I didn't have much time for testing though, so can't promise you that it won't crash in the middle of the basho (Sign of approval...)

I only wait for Kofuji to give me access to his server to put them on-line. I can see sumogames.com games are fine, so I believe within next couple of days you should be able to register yourselves and make your entries for Sekitori games.

Now that's great news! :-)

Thanks for the hard work (Sign of approval...), and I'll keep my fingers crossed for a stable system.

If I will enter, there is a message, "Entry form not available

The entry form for Sekitori-Oracle is not available at the moment.

Welcome back later.

Err, yes, because in fact the entry form is not available at the moment, as Golynohana said. And anyway, you're trying to access the old hakkeyoi.net entry form, which definitely won't work anymore.

Hello

Sekitori-Oracle and Sekitori_Quadrumvirate are here:

Golynohana's Sumo Site

Thanks to Kofuji I was allowed to place it on sumogames.com server.

Right now you can create an account on this site and then register for Haru basho and make your picks for Sekitori Oracle.

You can also register for Sekitori-Q , but there is no torikumi yet, so you can't send any picks for this game yet.

During registration don't forget to add your shikona for games you are going to play and also your nationality.

There is functionallity that sends confirmation e-mails and allows sending e-mail messages to me, but didnt test it on sumogames server yet.

If you find any problems or have any questions please do it here on sumoforum or send me an e-mail to this address golynohana (at) gmail (dot) com.

Oh, there might be 1 problem, when you create account but didnt add shikonas (for example because server went down), you wont have access to SO and SQ games. If this happens to you send me e-mail and i will add needed privileges .

and try to use the same shikona as so far, otherwise you will be not ranked on result page (you will be treated as a new player).

Of course I will be able to ccorrect it.

S4 is one of my favorites and I'm very happy it is back.

I'm logged as Charliki, but I can't register for upcomming basho : "Sorry, the account you are logged with does not have the permissions required to access this page". (I am not worthy...)

If you get this message it means, that you didn't add shikona for the game you want to access.

The registration process consists of 3 steps:

1. user name and password

2. your profile (where you can add your nationality)

3. shikonas for Sekitori oracle and Sekitori Q.

User name is only for logging to your account. In step 3 if you dont add shikonas, you cant play the games.

The information about it is on the home page...

True is that I could take user name as shikona in case the fields in step 3 are left blank.

I will try to redo it to avoid this confusion.

During registration I received an error message (directly after entering the two shikona). It seems that I was registered afterwards, but initially I received the same message as Charliki when I tried to register for the game. A couple of minutes later it was working.

I now have a question about the entry form for Oracle. Is there an easier way to enter a pick? The only method I found was to click on the pen symbol for each rikishi. Then a new window opened, a pull-down menu appears where you choose the record, and then you have to submit each individual record by hitting another button. That's 3 operations per sekitori.

Do not misunderstand me, I'm thankful enough that the games are running again, so I could live with this method although the entry process might take an hour. But maybe there is a simpler method that I haven't discovered yet.

Since Randomitsuki has brought up the Oracle entry form...Golynohana, is there a chance you might consider reversing the W-L ordering in the combo box? Right now it runs from 0-15 to 15-0 which I find a bit counter-intuitive compared to the more usual 15-0 through 0-15 sorting. (Maybe I'm the only one though, I have no idea.)

There is a problem with the birthdate validation (i am working on fixing it right now).

This caused the error message and also because of this the shikonas have not been saved. I added them through administration menu add that is why you can now register for both games

There is no other method, but I think it doesnt take much more time than the previous entry form.

The reason for using master/details style of entry form is that in the future i am going to display additional information in details window, like provious rank of selected rikishi, his past results, various stats etc.

I'd also like to add how thrilled I am that you have gotten the games back up. But I have to agree with Randomitsuki that it takes at least 3 times as long as the previous entry form. You shouldn't be faulted for it and that's not the point; this is the first time you've set this up (for this game at least) so it won't be perfect the first basho. Assuming it's not temporary, it will probably benefit from some tweaks before the next basho. As it is now, you probably did all you could to have it up and running 10 days prior to Shonichi. Thanks again!!!

In my case, having recently moved, I was demoted to dial-up by my lovely phone company. This makes the x3 aspect more like x20. Of course it's a blessing and a curse, as Asafan said in another thread. It took me almost 3 hours to enter my picks because sumogames server goes down about once every 45 minutes or so! If you hadn't set it up to save each pick separately, I may not have finished the form before being booted. But if I could have updated it 1 page at a time . . . I think in a perfect world we would have two options, both accessible from one page. Instead of bringing us to individual edit modules for each rikishi, each could have a pull-down menu on the page where the scores are displayed. Next to this, each would have its own update button. These individual update buttons would refresh the page showing the change for the individual rikishi. And there would also be an "update all" button at the bottom of each page. 5 pages I can deal with. 150+ pages with dial-up. Honestly it was a nightmare

As I said before, what you have given us is certainly better than nothing. You still have my utmost B-)
