Here is the initial scoreboard for Kyushu Basho. Since, as always, this is done manually, you should take a look whether I've made any mistakes.

I was asked whether there will be a third wave of Banzuke Surfing. Yup, coming Hatsu we will have a new one. This of course raises the question of how a particular wave might end.

I cannot keep track of too many waves in parallel (three or four can be handled, but that's it).

A couple of days ago I was trying to find out what a perfect player would have picked. As it turns out, a perfect player on 1st Wave would have arrived at Sanyaku as of now. Becoming Sanyaku was one of the goals I intended for completing the game.

As it is, playing this game is much more difficult than I originally thought. Reaching sekitori ranks is extremely complicated as Oshirokita will probably attest to (he sticks in upper Makushita for a loong time now).

Now here is my suggestion. Once a perfect player reaches Sanyaku, the game runs for one more year. This would mean that Aki 2007 will be the final basho for 1st Wave. While you ponder about this rule suggestion, I will provide you with what the perfect player would have done on 1st Wave:

Hatsu 2005: jk 35w Nakatani (6-1) moving up to jd64w

Haru 2005: jd65e Kagemaru (7-0) moving up to sd65w

Natsu 2005: sd85e Teruyama (7-0) moving up to ms55e

Nagoya 2005: sd4e Wakagiyama (6-1) moving up to ms31w (edited)

Aki 2005: ms42e Wakakirin (7-0) moving up to ms3w

Kyushu 2005: ms5w Sumanofuji (6-1) moving up to J11w

Hatsu 2006: J12e Homasho (10-5) moving up to J5e

Haru 2006: J11e Baruto (15-0) moving up to M11w

Natsu 2006: M13w Hokutoriki (10-5) moving up to M7e

Nagoya 2006: M10e Tamanoshima (11-4) moving up to M2e

Aki 2006: M3w Aminishiki (11-4) moving up to K2e

I blame the Gua.

Nagoya 2005: sd4e Wakagiyama (6-1) moving up to ms37w

This should be ms31w, I think...ms37w is where 7-0 Sawai got to. (Nitpicky, I know...)

Sounds like a winner to me. I have been extremely fortunate in this game. But I do enjoy playing it.

Well, it's your game of course, but I think it is a bit premature to conclude that. Imagine us still running in makushita in a year - the ending would be a bit unsatisfying for my taste. Also, I imagine that the variable of the "perfect player" can be more volatile than you'd like, giving less instead of more stability to the game. I'd just suggest to set the final goal lower to shorten the game (if it has to be shortened at all), like reaching makuuchi.
