Asojima Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Hyugano (Jd21W), 21 yrs, 183 Cm, 125 Kg, Musashigawa Heya Went 4-3 for a KK that will probably take him back to his career high of Jd2. Spent 6 basho on kyujo and banzuke gai from 11/2004 to 11/2005. Had two 6-1 basho upon his return, and has alternated 3-4 (Jd2) and 4-3 (Jd21) for the last 4 basho. Primarily a yori rikishi. Appears to be losing weight instead of gaining it. May still have some health issues. Prognosis: May end up stuck in low sandanme.
Asashosakari Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Koryu 5-2 and back into the Makushita promotion zone next basho. (Clapping wildly...)
Azumashida Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Masuko, 2nd consecutive 3-4, more worrying this time since that was in jonidan...
Doitsuyama Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Koryu 5-2 and back into the Makushita promotion zone next basho. (Clapping wildly...) I like to call that the juryo promotion zone. Sounds better. (Clapping wildly...)
sumofan Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 My man Kainohama went 6-1 in Jonokuchi. Back to Jonidan I hope.
Peterao Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Six straight wins brings Kamakura (formerly Arauma [formerly Kamakura]) up to a 6-1 record, and possibly his highest ever banzuke ranking at Kyushu.
Gusoyama Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Takanoyama 3-4, and he continues to linger at mid-makushita, and I suspect will continue to do so until he gains some weight, if thats at all possible.
Doyobi Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 4-3 for my Tsukinowa Kumanosuke from Shikoroyama beya (Jd41w). After the 3-0 start I hoped it would be even better than that, but any kachikoshi is good, neh? Good job!
aderechelsea Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 My "official" adoptee Daiyuchi had a great basho and finished 6-1. for the rest of my favourite low-rankers check my signature.
aderechelsea Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Hyugano (Jd21W), 21 yrs, 183 Cm, 125 Kg, Musashigawa Heya here's another pic of him i discovered . This was after he took off those funny bandages that wrapped his ears ....
Fay Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 (edited) Time for my adoptees: Ettoryu - 5-2, although he is a smaller one he did extremely well this time, motivated by half a dozen pics B-) Kotomisen - 2-5, not so good this time but he did fight brave against this big guys Kotootori made a 5-2 once again, so I hope he has a KK next time too. He always trains hard when I'm at Sadogatake Kotohikari - just choose him this tournament cause he is really funny, he always plays the clown when I'm looking at Asageiko, well only a 3-4 but anyway Takakiho - my new Takanohana hope as Koki left me :'-( , 5-2 and of course Kotoshogiku, up again 10-5 and . . . . my Kakuryu made it to Makuuchi with a 9-6 and when I was at the heya he even remembered my name :'-( I predict him to be close to Sanyaku in May next year and then (Punk rocker...) (No, no, no...) Edited September 28, 2006 by Fay
Golynohana Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 My adoptee Kinryuzan from South Korea is still off banzuke... But he is still young so i hope he will come back one day
Naganoyama Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 ...Takakiho - my new Takanohana hope as Koki left me :'-( , 5-2 ... my Kakuryu made it to Makuuchi with a 9-6 and when I was at the heya he even remembered my name :'-( I predict him to be close to Sanyaku in May next year and then ;-) (Whistling...) Careful who you predict to become Yokozuna - look what happened to Koki ! :-D
Yubiquitoyama Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 (edited) My adoptee Takamaru got a 3-4 at Sd6w which basically maintains him where he's been for more than 5 years... I strongly doubt he'll ever be making much of a move upwards, but one can only hope. Sandanme yusho in Kyushu!!! Edited September 28, 2006 by Yubiquitoyama

What would motivate someone to stay there for 5 years? By now he must know that the breakthrough to makuuchi / sanyaku will be highly unlikely. That means that as far as marrying and providing an income goes, rikishi like him are in a dead-end street?
kaiguma Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 (edited) My man Kainohama went 6-1 in Jonokuchi.Back to Jonidan I hope. You'd better believe it!!! ;-) Edited September 28, 2006 by kaiguma

They started from the age of 15 or even younger end they haven't devenoped much trade skills to help them do something else in their life. You have to take into consideration also the fact that living in a heya has practically no cost on the rikishi. They eat, sleep for free and they get a few extra money from now and then. It's not that bad if you think about it. and last but not least ... some of these guys just LOVE being a rikishi and Sumo is their passion...

I can see that, but by the time they are in their thirties, their bodies are busted. They cannot buy a kabu, and cannot become oyakata. Their Sumo life is over. So what do they do then?
aderechelsea Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 i suppose they can stay in the kyokai in a lower position or they will just get themselves a pension or something. (i am sure someone will correct me on this in a few minutes)
Ginkgo Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 My man Kainohama went 6-1 in Jonokuchi. Back to Jonidan I hope. You'd better believe it!!! (Applauding...) Every kk from Jonokuchi goes to Jonidan, so no need to hope or to believe, it
Torideyama Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Minaminoshima goes 6-1 from SD25W, and I believe that will be enough to move back into Makushita for November. Hooray!!
Muhomatsu Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 My adoptee Hochiyama is the first (and only) wrestler out of our original "draft" back in 2000 - my god, was it that long ago? Anyway, he finally made it up to the top division on the heels of his outstanding 13-2 Juryo Yusho in Nagoya. He was in for a letdown though, and only managed a 5-10 record as a shin-nyumaku. He will surely find himself back in Juryo for the Kyushu basho. However, he is strong enough and young enough to become a makuuchi regular and perhaps get to Sanyaku. He is a Sakai-gawa beya wrestler meaning he gets to train with talents like Goeido, Kadomoto, and Fukunaga as well as the veteran Iwakiyama. I hope all of them can make it to the top division and "help each other out" even more! Muhomatsu
