Mark Buckton Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 (edited) On September 5th, I was fortunate enough to be able to interview shin-komusubi Kokkai of Oitekaze Beya for the Sumo Fan Magazine interview published here: http://www.sumofanmag.com/content/Issue_8/Interview.htm After the interview, and during a lengthy session of fat chewing, the Georgian sekitori presented me with his autograph (signed and dated in front of me)on, to avoid going into Japanese terms, one of the boards we usually see tegata printed on. The thought instantly hit me of auctioning the board (with the permission of Kokkai) to earn a few more yen I will use to buy some more toys for the paediatric heart facility at Joshi-idai (sp?) / Tokyo Women's University Hospital in Shinjuku, Tokyo. This is a pet project of mine as many may know so I hope you will forgive the posting of such here but should anybody want to 'bid' for the item - pictured below - please do so via this thread. I will close the bidding at 8am Japan time on October 1st and will of course pay the p&p myself to get it to you insured against loss - wherever you are. Mark Buckton SFM Finally - on September 18th, thanks to the funds recieved in auctioning the Baruto tegata (here on SF) some time ago, I was able to deliver the first shipment of toys to the hospital. With (thankfully) no personal reason to be admitted to the ward now, and to reduce any chance of infection for current patients, I presented the toys to the nursing staff on a different floor and away from the children they are intended for so there are no photos to share. I will however, say a huge thank you on behalf of the nurses, (ultimately kids too), who were overjoyed at receiving the toys. Thank you. Edited September 23, 2006 by Mark Buckton
