Zeokage Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I started this last time, and it seemed to be popular... So, what bouts would you all recommend that we all make sure we watch? Or at the very least the best of each day?
Jakusotsu Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Day 1 - Dejima vs. Kotomitsuki elegant but painful
sashimaru Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 E-J1 Asofuji kainahineri E-J2 Satoyama (I hope Doitsuyama can provide a webstream-record) and W-M15 Kasugao kawazugake W-M14 Hochiyama (dito, on banzuke.com is only the end of the bout in the "First Half Replays")
Hananotaka Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Homasho's showed some fantastic sumo both days so far.
Doitsuyama Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 E-J1 Asofuji kainahineri E-J2 Satoyama (I hope Doitsuyama can provide a webstream-record) I agree, this was a great bout. You can see it here.
Blue_Wolf Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Pls, add in the future some of Mokonami bouts?
Asashosakari Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Pls, add in the future some of Mokonami bouts? If you can convince the NSK tech guys to start the video stream half an hour earlier...
Blue_Wolf Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Uh, it's like that. I didn't knew. Sorry.
kaiguma Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Pls, add in the future some of Mokonami bouts? If you can convince the NSK tech guys to start the video stream half an hour earlier... Mokonami will just have to smash his way back into upper juryo so we can see his fabulous skillz. Go Mokonami!
Jakusotsu Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Day 3 - Ama vs Kakizoe Great comeback move by the little big man, making Kakizoe look a bit silly.
Hananotaka Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Homasho vs. Tochinohana was rather good.
Daigaiguma Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Day 3 - Miyabiyama v Tochiazuma A gritty bout, with Miyabiyama persevering and unleashing a furious tsuparri that Tochiazuma resisted way longer than I thought he would.
Ryukaze Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 E-J1 Asofuji kainahineri E-J2 Satoyama (I hope Doitsuyama can provide a webstream-record) I agree, this was a great bout. You can see it here. Sounds alot better than it looks, trust me.
Naganoyama Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Roho - Baruto was pretty exciting today as a demonstration of strength.
Jakusotsu Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Day 4 - Takamisakari vs Kakizoe One rare and ferocious victory for AJ against his vice-nemesis, making Sakari look like a rag doll.
yamaneko Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 (edited) The utchari by toyozakura today was a thing of beauty. Incredible. The iwakiyama Baruto bout too was downright amazing Edited September 14, 2006 by yamaneko
Asojima Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Day 9 - Ama taking on Baruto straight up!
Senpai Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Day 9 - Ama taking on Baruto straight up! That bout was good but the way how win came wasn't exactly enjoyable. As stream isn't great I thought that Bart got nice win by taking Ama out but like once before when someone, don't remember who it was - one of the europeans for sure, did the same thing and lost because had too big toes (Clapping wildly...) or something altough was pretty much in control of the match and winning.
Peterao Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Baruto's leg was behind Ama's, so it looked ilke Baruto had a clear win...it was only a reverse angle replay that showed Baruto clearly stepping off the dohyo before swinging Ama out. I was impressed that Ama was the aggressor despite Baruto have the advantagous position throughout most of the match.. Think he is learning the limit to being just big and strong...
Peterao Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Hakuho vs Miyabiyama was very entertaining!
Phoenix Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Day 9 - Ama taking on Baruto straight up! That bout was good but the way how win came wasn't exactly enjoyable. I think somewhere, sometime, Ama must have had some ballet training somewhere! (Applauding...)
eciq Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 I think somewhere, sometime, Ama must have had some ballet training somewhere! (Applauding...) Yea... I guess he must have had done something in that direction. Incredible fightnig spirit as well. Someone posted last basho that Ama's 'stupid' fierce tachais etc last basho was kinda training session how to deal with big and difficullt oponennts. He might be so right about that. Go Ama go (Applauding...) I was also very impressed with Yokozunas bout. The 'new' Roho is so cool. Finally he does sumo that shoud be his trademark. Gone are the endlessly henkas and slapping downs. Too bad he could not get that win. That would make this basho so much more interesting.
Jakusotsu Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 (edited) I vote for day 9 being day of the basho. A whole lotta fantastic bouts at Dale's - great sumo! (edit: and I wonder why nobody commented on Kokkai's extra push yet...) Edited September 18, 2006 by Jakusotsu

A whole lotta fantastic bouts at Dale's - great sumo!(edit: and I wonder why nobody commented on Kokkai's extra push yet...) sure GREAT sumo (Applauding...) as for Kokkai I guess ppl wait until someone starts a topic about that. I too want to read all analysies, etc. I have no idea what made him so angry maybe he got hit by Tamanoshimas head at the end of the bout? I wait for some expert views (Applauding...) eciq
Fujisan Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 One that took me by surprise was Day 8 Yoshikaze vs Hochiyama- The little man manhandles the shin Makuuchi. Now if Yoshikaze could pull that off all the time he wouldn't be struggling this basho.
