  1. How so? He's been training for years at isegehama and is clearly very strong and is going up against the most green wrestlers in sumo. If he went all out, he would risk injuring the young rookies. That much is pretty obvious. The same would be true of any wrestler that had great potential. Edit: unless you're talking about the "that's difficult" part (because it's not).
  2. Is there any info on Tanji? I haven't seen the stated reason for his absence. But people are worried because his brother quit not too long ago and people are worried about Tanji
  3. Just gonna ramble a lil about aonishiki and throw some opinions out there. He's still a raw and inexperienced wrestler who is achieving 11 wins even facing the best wrestlers. He has a lot of room to improve and he will, both physically and mentally. I believe he will be a wrestler that always achieves double digit scores at a minimum (as long as he's healthy, touching wood) because whilst he may struggle against big guys like onosato, he's still good enough now, even as raw and inexperienced as he is, to beat enough of the rest. It's only a matter of time before he picks up a yusho. If he can cut down on his losses against lower ranked guys which he probably will, he will steal a yusho here and there. Even if he never manages to crack onosato, I believe eventually he could become yokozuna but it will take a little luck i.e. onosato picking up a few losses. But this will likely be in the more distant future. I think he will be ozeki for a little while
  4. Lol no way
  5. I believe it's a birth mark.
  6. I mean it helps that the youngsters in the stable are all very low level. Kikuchi and Koga especially. If you're not many steps ahead of those 2, even as a newbie, you aren't going to go very far.
  7. He's clearly the better youngster in the stable (I don't count mita as a youngster). I am not saying he won't become a sekitori because he has time to develop, but to say you see a yokozuna in him is crazy. There are a number of teenagers who I rate quite above him. For example: tanji (the half white wrestler), tenrosei (asashoryus other nephew), ikarigata (fujinokawas brother), anhibiki (aonishikis stablemate), and fukuzaki. All are teenagers and all are quite a few steps above him and no one would say they could see a yokozuna in any of them at least for now. Edit:actually tenrosei has a few people predicting he will become yokozuna... For a reason that we all know, I suppose. Also the fact he's pretty good lol
  8. You really see sanyaku or maybe higher (yokozuna) from his sumo? He's definitely better than the other lowest rankers but...
  9. You can actually find videos of him competing in the world championships freestyle wrestling on YouTube. He was a wrestler that did a little bit of sumo on the side for fun. But he says sumo in eastern Europe/Ukraine is basically just wrestling with sumo rules as there's basically no tachiai etc. he also says that all people that do sumo wrestling in Ukraine are either wrestlers or judoka. Edit:
  10. I agree its still far too early to tell where his ceiling is. At times he looks so inexperienced. We will know more next year I think
  11. what makes you think those 3 are "far far better calibre guys"? I wont argue about them being better, but far far better? I disagree. Aonishiki is younger than all of them and has not hit a plateau not to mention Aonishiki has beat both Takerefuji and hakuoho and it was pretty easy for him. I can definitely understand disagreeing with his ceiling, but to say that there's absolutely nothing in Aonishiki that shows he's the real deal means you don't know what your seeing. Clearly he has much to improve but he also is the least experienced wrestler in the top division (and the youngest)
