Hey Everyone and Happy New Year! The long wait is almost over, in a few days it's Sumo time again. I have some news about my channel. Some of them bad, some of them pretty good. I'll start with the bad ones. From this upcoming Basho I'll only stream the last two hours of each day (if it's bad news at all, with the ever growing number of options around, it may not be), also there may be a bit of a step down in quality and stability. Nothing major though, it still is 720p with minor glitches in the stream... In my mind it's still a small price to pay for the good news, the long awaited English commentary and the fact that it'll be nearly live. I've been testing this service for weeks and all the programs start promptly on time (obviously my streaming software takes a few seconds to push the stream through to twitch). Of course, it's going to be a test and hopefully it will work well but in case it doesn't I'll make sure the usual Japanese stream is available as a backup. I can hardly wait, see you all on Sunday at 4PM JST.

It surely wasn't Hiro Morita today, he would have given me a headache. I think it was Ross Mihara.

And I just want to say thanks to those who stick with my channel despite all the different options to watch Sumo. I think the reason is there's a great community in the chatroom with quite a few knowledgable members who are always happy to help the newcomers, answer their questions and share a lot of interesting info. A special thanks to those who support me, if you guys want your names to be mentioned here, let me know when making a donation or send me a pm here.

If AU$49.95 three monthly is considered expensive, how about €50 per month for JSTV (terrible SD quality) in Europe? I envy you.
-
According to Grand Sumo Preview on NHK World there will be live coverage on days 1 and 8 (5:10PM JST) and 15 (4:30PM JST).

What do you mean by NHK "Channel 2"? As far as I know you can only watch Sumo with English commentary on NHK World Premium if you are in an area where you can receive signal from any of these satellites. For North American fans TV Japan is the solution which is only available on cable. Europe is in the worst situation, a bunch of thieves called JSTV charge over the top for a couple of crappy SD quality satellite channels on Hotbird which is easily accessible in Europe. Their IPTV doesn't have English audio (as I was told) and its quality isn't that great either. Answering your first question, I would recommend Smart DNS Proxy. They offer a 14 day trial, so if you use your imagination a little, it's basically a free solution.

You're right, I should have written the last autumn clock setting.

Hello Everyone, As many of you know my stream on Twitch is one of the sources to watch live sumo. Near the end of the Aki basho Asojima said goodbye from posting all the different live streaming options (huge thanks for his efforts), if anyone wants to take over please make a different thread for it. I thought I'd open this one to keep my viewers and followers up to date about my channel. With only a few days to go until the start of Kyushu Basho there are some news I'd like to share. The good news is there is going to be some kind of improvement on picture quality. My source changed from 576p to 720p 30fps and although I've always streamed at 720p 60fps it was thanks to an upscaling process done by my capturing card, from now on there will be no need to upscale the video. The bad news on the other hand is that I'll only start my streams at Makunouchi Dohyo Iri in the next 3 Bashos, all because of the stupid clock setting in Europe. Hopefully this was the last one... That's all for now, any feedback and suggestions are welcome. See you all on Sunday, I can hardly wait.

Thanks for the info, I'll get back to my old sources...
-
Publicly advertising this option may not have been the best thing to do and may have something to do with recent connection problems. edit: I can confirm, using VPN there's no problem opening their site so there must be some kind of IP screening/blocking after a number of trial accounts...
-
I can't even open their website :( Maybe my IP address is blocked.
-
FJTV is down atm...
-
No live sumo on TV until 3:20 JST :(
-
Fuji TV forced me to update its application today during a bout so I'm gonna give it one more screw-up like that and if it happens again I'll get back to my regular source.
-
That temp-mail thing is really easy and straightforward.
-
So are you just gonna run your laptop for 13 days straight? :) It won't really be free that way.
-
It's free but more than two minutes behind real time.
-
If your VPN doesn't work try Smart DNS proxy, they offer a 14 day free trial.
-
Yes, they'll show the last 50/55 minutes of the last two days.
-
Same here, been trying on an Android box with no luck. Maybe if you set up VPN for your router but it would only work at home.

Awesome vids of HaSixties ;) If we ever wanna form a Sumo fan band, we surely have a bassist/vocalist and I'll apply for guitarist/vocalist :)
-
I would love to but I'm not sure my bosses would appreciate it :D
-
Let's just say it's not as good in the morning before going to work than in the afternoon or evening after work :)
-
I'm with you, I like to sit back and enjoy the action. Of course, for me, it's coffee instead of beer due to my time-zone :)
