Wow! I'm just... amazed at how wrong I was. I didn't get much of anything right - I think I got maybe 4 of the M ranks. The rest is just scary. I didn't penalize Chiyonokuni as hard as they did, that's for sure.

I can definitely see why the M1-5'ish ranks are thought of as a meat grinder. In the few GTB I've done (either on my own time or submitted), it was hard because those positions were rightfully needing to be vacated. I don't envy the folks who write this stuff up.

I'm very much a newbie to sumo - the first basho I saw was Kyushu 2016 where I first discovered that I wasn't able to pronounce Kakuryu with any effectiveness. I call him 'K-man' because I AM able to pronounce Kisenosato. :) I loved how the crowd just worshiped these guys for their strength and their skill. Now, I have my favorites and am finding Juryo to be super-fascinating because it seems to be a causeway of up and comers mixed with the older dudes coming down.

People were angry at the time, and while it's not excusable that anyone was called names or epithets were delivered... we have an amazing ability to be colorful in the heat of the moment.

I think Kaisei should be given the 'you are a super dumba$$ for coming back this basho' demotion to Ms14 (why 14? Why not?) :)

I'm just blown away by the results, happy that karma came and kicked Terunofuji in the butt. It was like Kisenosato saying, "I saw what you did there yesterday..." And then the matta in the playoff? Yeah, priceless. It was beautiful to see Kise crying during the song. Good to see that he can think of something other than the kittens (not to say that kittens aren't cool). I wonder if Takayasu's the joker of his heya.

This is a dumb question, I'm pretty sure. Am I the only one to think that Kaisei's a dumba$$ for coming back this basho and not just sitting it out? I mean, for real.

I notice how Takayasu's picking up the same type of swagger as Kise. Like many, I expected Harumafuji to be out before Hakuho. And, what is the deal with Ishiura? I am getting super tired of him immediately going to the low position and having his mawashi handed to him. The bigger guys are just like, 'get the heck off of me, bug.' and swatting him to the ground. Can he be more versatile?

So, it's professional cat herding for the win! And here I was thinking that there was some method to the madness. :)

I'm new to this. I totally didn't expect Osunaarashi to drop so low in Juryo, nor did I think that Sokokurai would go that high. :) Hoping to better figure out the algorithm for next time (while enjoying the show!).
