  1. Heartfelt Congrats to the 73rd Yokozuna! The GREATEST comeback in sumo history! We had to wait 6 years, but YOKOZUNA Terunofuji has arrived!
  2. 14 wins. I believe the 73rd Yokozuna has arrived, regardless of what happens tomorrow.
  3. -Kitanoumi (24) -Chiyonofuji (31) *Declined Offer -Takanohana (22)
  4. I don't get home from duty till virtually the second half of Makuuchi, so its the top matches I get to watch live from mbovo, and normally I will watch the recaps from Moti to get a good overview, then Jason's coverage for the details. Normally on Day 15, my wife Joins me to watch the last three matches as well as the presentation of the Emperors Cup. However, for the second half of the Nagoya basho, I'm on leave, so you can bet I'll be treating my self to DAILY doses of mbovo
  5. if I may make a prediction of my own.... Ichinojo gets 10-5, plus a special prize, to officially begin his attempt at promotion.
  6. I'm actually surprised no one has mentioned him yet, but perhaps Kitao remaining an Ozeki until he won a yusho would have been better in the long run?
  7. IMO, should Takayasu get that big 15-0, I'm in agreement with Moti that he would get the rope no questions asked. 14-1 Y, I believe that would warrant "Serious Consideration" for the rope. 13-2 Y, that might be a problem....
  8. So....theoretically....Takayasu gets a 14-1 Y, while Tochinoshin gets a 11-4, would we see a double promotion? I, for one, would absolutely MARK OUT for that.
  9. Natsu 2015 M6W Aoiyama was paired against S1E Terunofuji. Coincidence maybe? I'm gonna be cheering for "Bumble Boobies" After seeing Kisenosato's performance at haru, I believe that anything is possible.
  10. I'm just so happy that I didn't jinx it. I watched senshuraku live after work, and I had a legitimate "Undertaker Lost at Wrestlemania" expression on my face, BOTH times. Even my wife, who is not a sumo fan broke out in a cheer for Kisenosato. It made the news here in Hawaii, as it did else where in the world. Best Basho I've watched since I restarted in Hatsu 2015. Kisenosatoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
  11. Kisenosato. You. Are. The. MAN! For those who claimed he didn't deserve promotion, I believe that is BACK TO BACK Yusho. 14-1Y 13-2Y. And those two wins came with an injury. Takanohana must feel proud.
  12. E Honda! Portrayed by a Samoan no less in the movie.
  13. Let me be the (I think) first to predict that Yokozuna Kisenosato will win the Haru Basho. I kept silent all last basho, as not to jinx it, and it finally paid off. I wont get into scores (just yet)
  14. 14-1 D. Quite Impressive. A true "Yusho Equivilant"
  15. Wow....In Hawaii for a week...hope he is doing a public apperance, would LOVE to take a photo with him.
  16. 13. AT LEAST runner-up, if not outright winner/play-off. if all participate, this will be my FIRST ever basho with 4 active yokozuna. I started in May 1991, but 2 of the 4 were out, then the wolf called it quits after day 3. I stopped following in 1995, to restart in jan 2015.
  17. Hitman Hakuho
  18. Onokuni is very often targeted as a "weak" yokozuna (I am guilty of this myself). I often compare Kakuryu to him. I have to believe that the Ozeki who had potential was Kaio. His injuries obviously held him to where he was at, but I am one that feels his performance towards the end of 2004 (13-2Y, 12-3J) SHOULD have warranted his promotion. Alas, hindsight is 20/20, and it was not to be, but his Ozeki career benefitted from it, as he was able to stay in till 2011, whereas if he had gotten his tsuna, his retirement would have been forced maybe as soon as 2006.
  19. And now we get what we wanted, Hakuho vs Kisenosato as the Musubi No Ichiban on Senshuraku. What a way to start the year.
  20. The 3 highest ranked rikishi all lost, how long has it been since THAT happened? The last 2 days of sumo have been most exciting.
  21. Day 13...very anti-climatic....but...the day is young ;)
  22. So now its Hakuho vs Kisenosato on Day 14.
  23. Unless they BOTH drop out, the we will Have Hakuho vs Kisenosato on Senshuraku as the Musubi No Ichiban. If it came down to that, how AWESOME would that be?
  24. 2 years ago, when I ended my 20 year hiatus from watching sumo, I couldn't stand Kisenosato. Now, I am LEGIT cheering for him to get the yusho. How time changes things and people.
  25. Its amazing how you (John) can be featured in a internationally televised program, Yet you translate your charisma so well onto your YouTube videos. You stood as an equal with Hiro and Raja, yet you also stood as an equal with Jason and Moti. In effect, you have what most people in your position lack, "Humble Confidence". 2017 looks to be exciting, and I look forward hearing AND seeing you throughout the year. Aloha!!
