Jury still out on that, it seems, as Murray seemed to have agreed with me yesterday. Strange, but I have yet to see clear evidence either way.

This was clearly shinitai but Kumegawa did not choose his words well. The tawara is a legal part of the dohyo so anything other than feet on it is regarded as out.

Don't know who you're referring to, but Jack Benny died over 50 years ago.
The impersonator, however, is still very much alive.

Either that or something supernatural is occurring here...

Murray Walker the F1 caller died 2021

I've alway really enjoyed Murray Walker's commentary, but that Jack Benny impersonator who did the Onosato bout was pretty good, too.

He died almost 4 years ago.

And another Sponichi article 90 minutes later: He's another diarrhea victim (what's going on?) additionally running a fever since last night, and plans to be absent from Day 10 only. "Catarrhal enteritis" says the medical certificate which also projects a one-day rest period. Tobizaru's been hooked up to an IV drip and is apparently in the process of feeling better already.

Nevertheless, this will be his career-first kyujo (Nagoya 2022 Covid shenanigans aside).

Well brotherly love sharing malaise and not usually seen together much.

Agreed. Anyway, he's got so much metal in those braces protecting his knees that kicking one of them would likely break your foot. So it would be a dumb strategy to go for.

Actually I believe no metal parts. The US import braces have a solid material as support and Kyokai won't accept metal braces.

  6. Releasing this without official confirmation is concerning. If a rikishi says he is going to retire to a media source there is a precedent where they have been stopped from competing straight away.

  7. This has become an issue for a long time. NHK World Premium provides programming of NHK to various providers in different parts of the world.

Unfortunately not all jurisdictions show the sumo. Some show in Japanese or English, some just Japanese or some a digest in Japanese only. Depends where you are.

This can be checked by logging on to NHK World Premium website and follow the directions to see what your regional provider shows.

NHK World of course has the 4 days of live sumo, days 1,8, 14 and 15 but not all bouts. Then there is the highlights package of all bouts on NHK World 4 times a day the day after live sumo.

NHK World does take notice of how much interest is in their programs and just maybe can be persuaded to show every day live.

If enough people show their interest it may impact NHK World management on a decision to expand, if possible, their live sumo coverage to the world. This would be English only.

Following is the link that could affect their decision if enough people participate. Spread the word to see if it will have some impact.
