  1. Hi people. I'm Whatta. I've been a long time lurker since I started watching Sumo in 2017, around when Takayasu was a shin-Ozeki. I finally had the inspiration to actually make an account here rather than just read the forums. As for where you might know me from in the Sumo fan world, I was in the very early days a very active member on the "Grand Sumo Discord", and even a moderator for a short stint before I stopped using that server. I'm also a very active part of the Grand Sumo Breakdown podcasts fanbase and have been since their second ever episode. I've frequently contributed fan content to that show and I appeared once as a guest host on a special episode talking about injuries in Sumo. If you hang out in their patreon Discord you'll see me there all the time in the discussions. I also enjoy playing Guess the Banzuke, though I'm not very good at it. My shikona in that game is "Nanikitanohito". Nani for "What" in "Whatta", and Kita no Hito as "Person of the north", cause I'm from Sweden. I once had a small youtube channel where I posted some Sumo meme videos and some pretty popular Basho storyline summaries and highlights, but the big basho summary videos got taken down for copyright so it's a bit of a relic these days. Still some fun smaller stuff on there that I'm a bit proud of. https://www.youtube.com/@whataboutthings Have a good day! I hope to have some fun here now and then!

  2. I did 2 searches - much quicker to just search for k1e 8-7 staying at k in one tab, and only check the banzuke on the second tab (sekiwake with less than 8 wins, or similar query) if the basho matches. still manual.

  3. Aha, I have heard your name on GSB. Welcome, it can be nice to have an account to make comment now-and-then. For me, discord is fun to read but discussion is meaningless as all messages are lost to time shortly after they are posted, and rarely referenced or known about. A structured forum provides us the nest to spread esoteric sumo knowledge. Hope you continue to enjoy, and occasionally contribute.

  4. We got one more person from our guessing community to submit to the average Banzuke, so there are 13 now, but it did not change the average Banzuke between us. Here is the full compilation:

  5. Another try at a full post Today was the tsuya (wake) for Wakatozakura, at the Small Forest House (小さな森の家) funeral hall in Ryugasaki, Ibaraki, where the heya is located o Wakatozakura was suffering from haemorrhoids. The oyakata told him on the 10th at keiko: "Tsuyoshi, if it hurts don't do go on unreasonably, it's OK to rest.", but he said "Gambarimasu" and went on with training. On the 11th he did no keiko and went to a hospital and had emergency surgery the same day. The doctors had told him, that if he can hold on for 3 days it would get better, but he died on the 14th. Because he had the strength from keiko, he could hold on for 3 days, is what the doctors afterwards told the shisho. Checking again the name of the cause of death: Necrotizing fasciitis of the perineum, Fournier gangrene Still in the jungyo break, Hoshoryu was there. The rikishi went by bus to the jungyo location in Joso, Ibaraki - on the 23rd, when the funeral service will be held - Hoshoryu changed clothes and came to the tsuya o Hakkaku o main list of oyakata attending o

  6. Welcome! It took me a while to make an account after lurking for quite a while as well. Lots of fun and informative discussions to be had here.

  8. Here is the Kekka format, which will be used for making the 2025 Natsu Banzuke. Here are the Kekka points (calculated by using the simple equation "Points*7.5/ Median"). Extra points were used for Banzuke purposes only (better differentiation). 2025 Haru Basho - Kekka format for Banzuke purposes: Gamer Kekka Philioyamfuji 15 Katunazuma 14 Kimyama 13 Achiyama 13 Ziggyama 12 Benihana 11 Papayasu 11 Profomisakari 10 RaeucherLax 10 Holleshoryu 9 Flohru 9 Jejima 8 Athenayama 8 Bunbukuchagama 8 Wakatake 8 Fujisan 8 Jakusotsu 8 Joaoiyama 7 Chishafuwaku 7 Oshirokita 6 Andreas21 6 Sumo Spiffy 6 Wamahada 6 Shimodahito 5 Ippikiokami 4 Pitinosato 4 Andonishiki 3 Fashiriteta 3 Atenzan 1
