Oshirokita Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 (edited) I am offering a Prize! To celebrate the start of the third year for the Pick the Yusho Winners game, the winner of the Nagoya 2006 basho will win a souvenir program from the Las Vegas Grand Sumo exhibition held October 2005 (which I was fortunate enough to attend). To play, just go to my website to find complete rules, entry page, etc. The short version of the Rules is to pick who you think has the best chance to win the yusho for each division (2 picks for Makuuchi - 1 sanyaku & 1 maegashira; 2 Makushita - 1 upper ms1-15 & 1 lower ms16-60; 1 pick for each other divisions). Every win your rikishi gets is 1 point (plus bonus points for getting kachi koshi and for a yusho), most points wins. PTYW site: http://members.shaw.ca/oshirokita/PTYWgame.htm Deadline for entry: 12noon JST Day One of the basho. Thanks for playing! - Oshirokita, from the Great White North Edited July 7, 2006 by Oshirokita
Oshirokita Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 Last call for entries. Deadline fast approaching (12noon JST on day one). I am away sailing for a couple of days and won't be able to confirm entries received from now till deadline until I get back (around Day 2). My website will get updated during Day 3. - Oshirokita
Susanoo Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I chose 毛利 [Mori] (Jd 70e). However, I got to know that 森 [Mori] (Jd 109w) existed recently. Although 毛利 is [Mouri] with the exact Roman alphabet spelling, I tend to exclude "u" habitually in the sumo games. I will have chosen 森 as a result. Since I am convinced to my mistake, I do not need your correction. I realized importance of an exact spelling which Kintamayama-san is using. :-|
Oshirokita Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 Susanoo, your entry did say "Mouri". My data list has both the rikishi you mention above as "Mori" so I will be using the one you want (Jd70e). To all, sorry for the delay in updating entry replies and results. I am suddenly swamped with work and other non-sumo events taking up my time. I will post results with Day 4 scores momentarily. Next update will be sometime after Day 8 results are in.

Oshirokita Posted July 21, 2006 Author Posted July 21, 2006 I fixed an error in the excel sheet that scores the game. A slight change in the scores. Big apologies to Azumaryu whose score should have been much higher. The day 12 results have been corrected now.
Azumashida Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Thanks for fixing it, Oshirokita! The drone is quite good this basho, only four players are doing better than "it"...
Oshirokita Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 Final results are posted. Congratulations to yusho winner, sekihiryu! (Yusho winner...) This is sekihiryu's second yusho in this game. He should find himself promoted to sanyaku for the first time on the next banzuke. Senpai continues his good form from last basho, being one of only 4 players to finish with a score higher than the Drone. Tomoe was the best Juryo player, but unfortunately was ranked too low to receive promotion to Makuuchi. 8 wins next basho will be enough to finally get there. Zeokage is right on the border and may just squeeze into Makuuchi with a little banzuke luck.
Senpai Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 It was very hard to beat the drone, but it was still good basho and good fight to the first place. Would have been completely satisfied if I would have picked Asashoryu as he was the only rikishi I had doubts and replaced him for Hakuho in the end. That move cost me a place amoung top three :-) I'll try my best next time or lose big time .. (Laughing...) Thanks to all for great play!
Zeokage Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Considering that I know next to nothing about who should do well, (for proof of that just look at my general game form) I think I definately got lucky. I'm happy about that though. :) Is there any way to view old banzuke from this game? I've got a gap from Haru 2004-05 in my records, pretty much my whole PTYW career...
Oshirokita Posted July 26, 2006 Author Posted July 26, 2006 Zeokage: I have all the old banzuke on my PC. I may eventually get them posted on my website, but not a high priority right now. If you just need your own results and ranks, I can email them to you if you ask.
aderechelsea Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 is the game open for Aki ? could i send my entry?
Kuramarujo Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 is the game open for Aki ?could i send my entry? I have setup an webform for submitting your PTYW entries that will hopefully make things easier. I am waiting on word from Oshirokita-san before announcing it, though. I have already used it to submit my entry for Aki. K-jo
