Finally.... After a couple of disappointing results a nice score in GTB. 62 points might be enough for a few SB Masters points.

61 points, wouldn't be surprised if that's not even in the top 15 given that it should have been very difficult to score less than 50 this time. Picked up all the easy points and fluked a few other two-pointers - Shodai with almost everything else wrong in that area, Sokokurai/Sadanoumi correct despite the East side totally wrong. (Chiyonokuni at M9e after all...)

I'm semi-annoyed that I put Takarafuji ahead of Okinoumi after my first draft still had them in the correct order, and I only deviated from that because a search of precedents showed they hadn't done that in over 10 years. Still, I actually improved by three points by getting it wrong, because my draft had M1w Okinoumi / M2e Takarafuji / M2w Tochiozan...

All in all, quite a few lucky breaks went my way after it was the complete opposite the last few times. Good points total (I guess) but not an edition I'm terribly happy about overall.

Anyway, probably shades of last Kyushu where it took 57 points for KK.

57 here as well.... lucky to hit 26 bull-eyes.

should be enough to clinch a single-digit kachikochi, probably 9-6 ??

Chiyonokuni on M9e looks pretty aggressive, didn't expect him so high...

anyway, one day I'll hit the magic SIXTY points

And again I successfully managed to create the shortest possible chain - out on Day 1 with Chiyoo... What a shitty start into the Gaming basho.... :-/

And followed by a clean strike-out in Maegashira game, thanks to Myogiryu, Ikioi and Aoiyama.

It's gonna be a weird basho, this one. It's my first as a resident of Japan. Because I only moved here less than a month ago, there's still a ton of stuff to take care of, in addition to a full-time job. So I'm kind of expecting a meltdown in the games I did manage to enter (i.e. Sumo Game + a few others who require minimal picking effort).

Sweet turnaround in Sumo Game today.

Down 0-2 early because of picking Nishikigi and Tokushoryu, losses by my opponents's picks Kotoshogiku and Goeidou sealed the comeback win for me.

It's going quite smooth in SG early on...

I thought Giku was going to let Martin do me yet again but I had a feeling Ama would lose today - he so often does on days two or three. Nice to beat the Sokk...he's had a blistering start so I'm glad I played well today.

And I am flirting with another perfect 10 at Sumo Game - oops, kinboshi/ginboshi jinx?

DONE!!! 2nd time in 3 days to get 10 points in SG! (Punk rocker...)

Looks like we will have a very high scoring average in Sumo Game today.

Yep! perfect scores galore! 52 players scored a perfect 10 today, 38 had 9 and 28 had 8 points - 22 scored 7 points or less - among them 1 with 3 points and Hakutouwashi just scored 2 points.

It was the 14th highest scoring day in Sumo Game history

Overall Average was 8.59 pts

Sanyaku Avg.: 9.62 pts (!)

Makuuchi Avg.: 9.49 pts

Juryo Avg.: 8.96 pts

Makushita Avg.: 7.99 pts

I just realized that the guy who is leading at Paper Oyakata (by 18 points) has Osunaarashi as 10-point top pick! (Daishomaru is the 1st reserve). Crazy!

Thinking Ichinojo would be a good choice to further my Chaingang yusho hopes apparently wasn't so bright...

Edit: Congrats to Nantonoyama!

Thank you! I never thought that picking Daieisho would enable me to win the yusho! Incredible, this basho was the first time (in 3) that I went through day 1...

(Yusho winner...)

Now what happens? Is the game over or should I continue to play alone?

The yusho competition is over, but you can still collect more winning days for bragging rights and for ranking points. :-)

Haha okay :-) I presume that the people going through day 15 have a right to enter the sumo gaming hall of fame!
