This is a forum focusing on a type of wrestling, sumo. But can I say that Ichinojo, however soft he may be on the dohyo, is a real gentleman. He is really good with kids. You can tell the little guy feels calm around him. BTW he looks like a toddler carrying a favorite toy.

As rikishi representatives to caution all, Toyonoshima, Aminishiki and 5 others got reminded by deputy jungyo boss Tamanoi to stay away from gambling- recently one sport in Japan after the other has its new culprits and always the news mention the old sumo scandal. Presently it's badminton. http://www.sanspo.com/sports/news/20160409/sum16040917270003-n1.html

Takasaki today, about 4000 spectators
Akebono visited the jungyo and the boss, his old rival and sumo-class-mate. A jungyo promoter is a friend and he was invited as guest. He stepped on the dohyo first and then Taka joined him and got the flowers. 3 years ago Akebono had paid him a visit as the Osaka basho responsible, last time they stood together on a dohyo was 13 years ago at Taka's danpatsu-shiki, their last bout was Kyushu 2000.

I heard that Shohozan is not much of a drinker, but surprised to see that he smokes cigarette :-O Very interesting videos!

Edit: I take that back. Considering it's Japan, it shouldn't surprise me.

Kumamoto earthquake -- in my 42 years of living in central Japan (through quite a few earthquakes near and quite near) this is the first time I have been glued to my TV on my day off to watch 'aftershocks' on the day _after,_ coming three per hour, and some of them bigger than the first, and many qualifying as 'big' quakes. And it got rather noticeable yesterday that some quakes are now happening on the next big island in one or three places. This starts to get us wondering, is the whole of Japan beginning to come apart? Oh, noo, perish the thought -- this is the stuff of science fiction. We hope.

The spectator who posted several Kawasaki jungyo videos already added sumo jinku, shokkiri, taiko performance, mage making, juryo dohyo-iri and fastening the tsuna - some of the older videos appear higher up in the list, so look for those with the recent upload date: https://www.youtube.com/user/37zou/search?query=川崎ふるさと場所

2 short spectator videos from the Kawaguchi jungyo: https://www.youtube.com/user/wrexumable/search?query=大相撲 (the channel may add some later, the link stays the same)

Kawaguchi on the 17th
Hakuho's back-pain from the bus rides made him skip asa-geiko, but he still did the torikumi. He'd likely skip that as well if Harumafuji would replace him. No sign of him doing the yokozuna bout yet, but he stepped onto the doyho for the first time this jungyo, did suri-ashi and gave Takarafuji a butsukari-geiko lesson - 2nd video from above: https://www.youtube.com/user/wrexumable/search?query=大相撲
Kotoshogiku has influenza and was 100% kyujo, Ichinojo replaced him in the ozeki bout again Kisenosato.
The boss, Kakuryu - from all sides Ichiko gets pushed to do more keiko - and it seems he has managed to control his weight now: 208kg last week after a top of 214 before the Hatsu basho and 212kg at the last weigh-in.
He had reduced keiko for a week with pain in the left hip joint which plagues him since after the basho. After concentrating on treatment he started intense keiko again that day and did the most of all makuuchi: 9-6 against Takarafuji, Kotoyuki etc.

Again we'll have an appendix to the jungyo: the NicoNico chokaigi-basho-booth will take place also this year - of course live on NicoNico - I recommend the Time-shift reservations for both days, the 29th and 30th - it will be very boring to watch most of it, let alone live from 10-16:30. http://www.chokaigi.jp/2016/booth/sumou.html

No real sumo this year, talk-show of comedians, just maybe with Toyonoshima and Yoshikaze joining in shortly at 15h on the 2nd day, otherwise they come just for the photo shoot, which is basically with panels the rest of the time.

Some real ozumo objects on display: a tsuna, mawashi and yukata of Hakuho

Goeido for Yasukuni on the 18th started to appear in the torikumi - today the jungyo ended.

Shokkiri and several dohyo-iri, some with kids.
Maybe some more get added later. Those should also display with this link, but you won't get really exact results with a YouTube inside-channel search.

Edit: Taiko was added and is on top, a juryo digest ended up behind 2 older videos
