inhashi Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Ugh, Onosho is out for today and most likely for the remainder of the tournament with left ankle ligament damage. Fusen win for Seiro.

Jakusotsu Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 These rikishi did not appear for their matches: East Jonidan 41 KISENOSHO Surprisingly, 9 full years since the most recent *nosho no-show....and now only a couple of days.
Fukurou Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) Day 13 East Sandanme 59 SAIO (3-3) is withdrawing as of day 13. Washuyama Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 Day 13 Meanwhile, returning to the basho are: West Juryo 6 ONOSHO (2-9-1, absent from day 11) Ooh look... It's a no-sho re-show... Fo'Sho'. ;-) 4
Asashosakari Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 The official diagnosis for Onosho was 4 weeks of rest and treatment for an injury to the lateral collateral ligament of his left ankle, by the way. For a guy with an above-average reliance on speed I'm not too hopeful for his return to competition here. 1
Kintamayama Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Oosunaarashi in hospital with the left knee injury. Toyonoshima injured the sole of his left foot. "I heard a snapping sound at the tachiai-could be a muscle pull or a tear," he said later.

Looks like there may be some late withdrawing going on before day 14.

Final decisions are made based on how the guys feel and they try to delay that decision as much as possible.

Final decisions are made based on how the guys feel and they try to delay that decision as much as possible. Noon is typically called 12pm, and use of noon/midnight is very common because neither am nor pm makes perfect sense for them. It's much closer to 12am here in Michigan when they do those announcements.

But I suspect you already knew that ;-) Edited November 20, 2015 by Fukurou
WAKATAKE Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Oosunaarashi has officially withdrawn from the tournament according to the NSK website.
WAKATAKE Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Update: Toyonoshima and Kotoshogiku have also withdrawn from the tournament. NHK mentioned something about this being the first time since 1971 that 3 people have withdrawn on the same day. I don't know if it was day 14 or just same day any day. Somebody feel free to correct me if it's wrong.
Gurowake Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 There was definitely a time when 3 sekitori withdrew before, because it wasn't that long ago there were people picking 3 fusen wins in Quad. Perhaps first time for 3 Makuuchi in a while.
Asojima Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 .... Toyonoshima also withdrawn.Which gives Shohozan a free gift 12th win and keeps him in the yusho race.
Fukurou Posted November 21, 2015 Author Posted November 21, 2015 Just to recap the rikishi withdrawing on day 14 in one place: East Ozeki KOTOSHOGIKU (now 8-6) West Maegashira 1 OSUNAARASHI (now 5-9) (link) East Maegashira 3 TOYONOSHIMA (now 5-9) (link)
Fukurou Posted November 21, 2015 Author Posted November 21, 2015 Day 14 Fusen This guy's had a really bad basho... East Jonidan 41 KISENOSHO was fusen on day 8, then withdrew as of 9, returned to the basho for day 11, and was fusen again on day 14. Final record: 2-4-1
