They were both my great favorites when I started watching Sumo in 2001, and to have them both retire at the same time is a double blow... (In a state of confusion...) However, I shall battle on! Had the surgery shortly after Hatsu Basho. Some people close to the heya said something of being kyujo until maybe Aki-Basho. Oyakata said he has some hope for the Natsu-Basho but rather thinks Myogiryu will make his comeback in Nagoya down in Sandanme. It's such a pity! At least I was positively surprised to see him in a rather good mood at the heya in spite of the serious situation. Hopefully he has the attitude to stay optimistic and feisty thus coming back with a lot of energy given that the knee will heal properly.

It hurt to watch it and as they wheeled him out! That much pain on a man's face means it really hurt!!

He said he'll be kyujo 5 days. at 2-2 he needs the gift of the torikumi gods to give him two matches between Friday and Senshuraku but it isn't likely (Holiday feeling...)

Fujinohana actually is 1-3, so no KK possible at all if he can't recover within the next two days...
