Tomozuna Beya

Ozeki Kaio went to fishing with Takamisakari and Ushiomaru and others. There was an article released at the end of last week in Nikkan sports, which I can't translate (Spooky TV program...) yet :-)

But here is a picture of them.

(Pictured by Shinya Setsu and copyright@Nikkan-Sports) I think this should be enough credit for anyone ;-)

The numbers change from week to week :-D but Tomozuna now announces that they will have three Shindeshi this March.

Two of them already joined them, the third arrived today in the heya. It was said that he often visited the heya during the past three years, so everybody knows him. His twin brother will join Takashima-beya.

Tomozuna seems to have some difficulties in counting their new rikishi, today there are again four ;-).

On the 20th, the fourth shindeshi joined them. It is said that these four shindeshi are good fellows and rivals.

Yesterday morning, Kainowaka, Kaishoryu, Kaisenryu, Kainohama and the four shindeshi went to Osaka. Kaishinho and Kaisei joined them in the evening after Kaisei

There are a lot of overseas sumo fans, who can't understand or even read the japanese websites of most sumo heya. So Harumi and me suggested to one of our favourtite heya to make an english website for them. They agreed and so we proudly present (Sign of approval...):

the official english site of Tomozuna Beya (or let's say the start of it)

Have a look and see:

- some information about the heya

- a message from the Oyakata to the overseas fans

- a message from Ozeki Kaio to the overseas fans

- some information about the rikishi

- and of course a lot of pictures.

Come and see

I just took a quick glance and read Ozeki Kiho's statement. Looks like there is a lot of information to be had. I have added it to my favorites list.

Best of luck with the site.

What a good news! Tomozuna beya enlarges! Last year, when I went at Osaka for asa-geiko, this heya seemed a little moribund.

Who stood up early in central europe could see it live on the stream, almost :-)

There was a first “Shinjo-shusse-hiro” today. “Shinjo-shusse-hiro” means that the shindeshi who won two bouts are officically introduced as “rikishi” on the dohyo. The first “shinjo-shusse-hiro” is called “ichiban-shusse”. 16shindeshi were introduced today as “Ichiban-shusse”.

One of them was Tomozuna's Kainomiya (who is one of the separated twins), I didn't see if his brother who belongs to Takashima Beya was there too. (edit: but as I just saw in Asashosakari's post, he was)

Some news from Tomozuna Beya:

All rikishi except Kaio returned safe to Tokyo from Osaka & Ise-jingu (Ise-shrine) Jungyo which was held last Sunday (1st, April).

Ise-shrine is one of the big and famous shrines with deep history in Japan.

(For your info: Ise shrine)

Sumo-jungyo held at Ise-shrine is the customary event.

From Monday (2nd, April), our four shindeshi(new disciples) start schooling to the Kyoshu-jo (a school where all shindeshi go to for their first six months).

Kaio has spent his time for his treatment after Osaka-basho. He will come back to Tokyo after Odawara Jungyo which is held on Friday (6th, April). Kainowaka and Kainohama go to Odawara Jungyo from Tokyo and will join Kaio.

By the way

A new message from Tomozuna Beya

post-736-1176558852_thumb.jpg

We haven't introduced our new shindeshi with their details yet.

Kainofuji (Left on the picture)

Real Name: Yoshimasa Saito

Date of Birth: 24th December 1992

Place of Birth: Saitama Prefecture, Japan

Height: 174.2cm

Weight: 88kg

Kainokura (2nd left on the picture)

Real Name: Tatsuya Saito

Date or Birth: 26th February 1993

Place of Birth: Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan

Height: 171.5cm

Weight: 99kg

Kainoryu

Real Name: Hiroki Yamashita

Date of Birth: 3rd September 1992

Place of Birth: Kagawa Prefecture, Japan

Height: 177.5cm

Weight: 96kg

Kainomiya (Right on the picture)

Real Name: Satahiro Kogure

Date of Birth: 18th May 1992

Place of Birth: Gumma Prefecture, Japan

Height: 179.2cm

Weight: 124kg

Two weeks have past since all Tomozuna-rikishi returned to Tokyo from Osaka.

Four shindeshi are getting used to their life in the stable.

Kainomiya had often come to the heya since three years ago, and Kainofuji had come since last December before they officially joined our stable, therefore, they actually already have accustomed to living there. Kainoryu and Kainokury have also get used to the life although they had never lived in Tokyo before.

They are learning sumo at a kyoshujo (a school where all shindeshi go schooling for their first 6months.).

They are also learning the style of Tomozune-beya everyday at the stable.

There are many different accents depending on the places they are from, different accents, dialects, customs, preferences, etc

It's a big cake, but it looks quite small in front of Kainowaka ;-)

Happy birthday !!!!!
