MongolPower 0 Posted April 28, 2006 I don't know if it's been stated but Ama was born at home and his father was as midwife. When they took him to hospital he weighted 5kgs. So he was born big.

I did not know a man could be a midwife (Clapping wildly...). Would he then be called a midhusband? (Clapping wildly...)
Erkhembulgan 0 Posted April 28, 2006 (edited) Just I've wondered ... is it usual to give birth at home in Mongol?Ama was a big baby.... 5Kg :-S In urban areas of Mongolia everybody gives birth at home... (Applauding...) Of course, everybody can get an obstetrician's help in hospitals. But delivery at home is not very unusual for rural areas. Even there professional midwives or physicians are able to come and assist the mother. Edited April 28, 2006 by Erkhembulgan
Coo-cook 0 Posted April 28, 2006 (edited) In urban areas of Mongolia everybody gives birth at home... No. It was the case until 1930-ies. Probably, you mean "in countryside". Even in countryside, after 1950-ies, most Mongolians are born in small hospitals (or practices) called "county health care centers". Well, the communist system was a very stupid system. But, the public servise was not bad at all. We had a very decent health care and educational system during communist times. Though, I agree with Erkhembulgan's remark that born at home was (and still is) not an unusual thing in Mongolia. Edited April 28, 2006 by Coo-cook

Kishinoyama 513 Posted April 29, 2006 (edited) Hey folks, how is this topic relevant to Ozumo Discussion? Oops. None. We should stop. The topic could be split and then it could be moved over to the off-topic section :-( . Edited April 29, 2006 by Kishinoyama
Jakusotsu 4,993 Posted April 30, 2006 (In a state of confusion...) Why should it be split? It's all very much on the original topic. (Except for the the meta-discussion of course.)

I only made that suggestion after someone said the topic had nothing to do with Ozumo :-) Edited April 30, 2006 by Kishinoyama
