Doitsuyama 1,156 Posted May 16, 2003 Yokozuna Asashoryu still is undefeated after winning a scramble against Takamisakari. Five rikishi follow at 5-1 with Sanyaku Dejima and Chiyotaikai narrowly winning today and Wakanosato without problems. Dejima's limp is getting worse by the day. Buyuzan and Jumonji are the surprising lead rikishi in the Hiramaku ranks with Takanotsuru and Shimotori surprising at the other end of the scale. Akinoshima again looked good in his win against Wakanoyama after sporting his new kesho in the dohyo-iri. Three rikishi are left at 5-1 in Juryo, Tochisakae, Kasuganishiki and last basho Makushita yusho winner Nakao. Here Sumanofuji, Hamanishiki Wakakosho and Komahikari are the negative surprises. -- Doitsuyama Day 6 Juryo J12e Toyozakura (4-2) yoritaoshi J12w Gokenzan (3-3) J13w Kaito (3-3) hatakikomi J10e Dewanofuji (3-3) J10w Kokkai (4-2) oshidashi J13e Sumanofuji (0-6) J9w Oikari (3-3) yorikiri J11e Futeno (2-4) J11w Nakao (5-1) oshidashi J5w Wakatoba (2-4) J8w Wakakosho (1-5) tsukidashi J4e Hamanishiki (1-5) J4w Tochinohana (4-2) hatakikomi J9e Senshuyama (4-2) J3e Tochisakae (5-1) oshidashi J7e Harunoyama (2-4) J3w Kobo (3-3) okuridashi J7w Tamakasuga (4-2) J2e Kinkaiyama (4-2) yorikiri J6e Kakizoe (4-2) J2w Ushiomaru (3-3) tsukiotoshi J5e Hayateumi (3-3) J1e Kasuganishiki (5-1) yorikiri J6w Komahikari (0-6) Makuuchi M15e Asanowaka (4-2) tsukiotoshi M14e Takanotsuru (0-6) M13w Asasekiryu (4-2) oshidashi M14w Otsukasa (2-4) M12e Buyuzan (5-1) hatakikomi M13e Yotsukasa (2-4) M12w Aogiyama (2-4) oshidashi M10e Kotoryu (3-3) M15w Akinoshima (4-2) uwatenage M10w Wakanoyama (2-4) M9e Jumonji (5-1) hikiotoshi M11w Shimotori (1-5) M11e Toki (4-2) okuridashi M8e Tamarikido (3-3) M5e Miyabiyama (3-3) yorikiri M8w Gojoro (2-4) M5w Hokutoriki (2-4) oshidashi M9w Iwakiyama (2-4) M4w Kotonowaka (4-2) yorikiri M7w Aminishiki (4-2) M3w Tamanoshima (4-2) yorikiri M6e Kasugao (2-4) S1e Wakanosato (5-1) yorikiri M3e Kyokushuzan (2-4) S1w Dejima (5-1) okuritaoshi M4e Kaiho (2-4) O1e Chiyotaikai (5-1) hikiotoshi M1e Tochinonada (4-2) K1w Kyokutenho (3-3) yorikiri O2w Tochiazuma (3-3) K1e Tosanoumi (2-4) uwatenage O2e Musoyama (2-4) O1w Kaio (4-2) yorikiri M2w Takanonami (1-5) Y1e Asashoryu (6-0) yorikiri M1w Takamisakari (3-3) Day 7 Makushita Ms8e Yotsuguruma (0-3) Ms3w Fujinohana (0-3) Ms4e Tamanokuni (3-0) Ms2w Chiyotenzan (3-0) Ms2e Kotoiwakuni (2-1) Ms5e Asahibenten (2-1) Ms4w Kotonomine (2-1) Ms1w Masutsuyoshi (2-1) Ms1e Kitazakura (1-2) Ms3e Tomikaze (1-2) Juryo J11e Futeno (2-4) J13e Sumanofuji (0-6) J9e Senshuyama (4-2) J13w Kaito (3-3) J12e Toyozakura (4-2) J8w Wakakosho (1-5) J10w Kokkai (4-2) J7w Tamakasuga (4-2) J12w Gokenzan (3-3) J6w Komahikari (0-6) J6e Kakizoe (4-2) J11w Nakao (5-1) J10e Dewanofuji (3-3) J5w Wakatoba (2-4) J5e Hayateumi (3-3) J7e Harunoyama (2-4) J9w Oikari (3-3) J4w Tochinohana (4-2) J4e Hamanishiki (1-5) J2w Ushiomaru (3-3) J2e Kinkaiyama (4-2) J3w Kobo (3-3) Makuuchi M15e Asanowaka (4-2) J3e Tochisakae (5-1) J1e Kasuganishiki (5-1) M12w Aogiyama (2-4) M13e Yotsukasa (2-4) M11w Shimotori (1-5) M10e Kotoryu (3-3) M14w Otsukasa (2-4) M14e Takanotsuru (0-6) M9w Iwakiyama (2-4) M9e Jumonji (5-1) M15w Akinoshima (4-2) M11e Toki (4-2) M8w Gojoro (2-4) M8e Tamarikido (3-3) M13w Asasekiryu (4-2) M12e Buyuzan (5-1) M7w Aminishiki (4-2) M10w Wakanoyama (2-4) M5w Hokutoriki (2-4) M5e Miyabiyama (3-3) M6e Kasugao (2-4) M4w Kotonowaka (4-2) M1w Takamisakari (3-3) M1e Tochinonada (4-2) K1w Kyokutenho (3-3) K1e Tosanoumi (2-4) S1w Dejima (5-1) S1e Wakanosato (5-1) O1w Kaio (4-2) O1e Chiyotaikai (5-1) M4e Kaiho (2-4) M2w Takanonami (1-5) O2w Tochiazuma (3-3) O2e Musoyama (2-4) M3e Kyokushuzan (2-4) Y1e Asashoryu (6-0) M3w Tamanoshima (4-2)
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted May 16, 2003 S1e Wakanosato (5-1) O1w Kaio (4-2) I'm looking forward to this one! (In a state of confusion...)
Dejimasama 0 Posted May 16, 2003 I agree, Wakanosato has had a relative easy go of it so far. That all stops with Kaio.
Manekineko 200 Posted May 17, 2003 Kaio takes it. Good call, QttP-zeki. (Clapping wildly...)
QttP 0 Posted May 17, 2003 Kaio takes it. Good call, QttP-zeki. (Clapping wildly...) I'm not so sure it was a good call... He was damn lucky out there - I was sure he lost it...
Tokimori 0 Posted May 17, 2003 I'm not so sure it was a good call... Me neither... It sure looked like Kaio touched ground before Wakanosato did...
QttP 0 Posted May 17, 2003 I'm not so sure it was a good call... Me neither... It sure looked like Kaio touched ground before Wakanosato did... From watching the bout in slow motion it definitely seems too close to call. I was very surprised they didn't announce a rematch, but simply reversed the referee's decision and gave it to Kaio. There is one moment where it's possible that Sato's foot just touched the outside area, BEFORE he turned sideways and stepped out completely. At that point Kaio was still high in the air, but I didn't get a good angle on that (Dale's movies).
