Azumashida 1 Posted September 23, 2005 Perhaps it's time to count one loss for everybody, then the kachikoshi/makekoshi balance will be better, even if in my case it ruins my chances... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Or perhaps it's time to announce: "Actually it counted, all those who didn't play - or played

Azumashida 1 Posted September 23, 2005 A game that doesn't have a serious manual backup is not a serious game. [clever mode]I'm not sure that TRIO takes itself very seriously. It's about having fun...[/clever mode] Regarding the backup solution, I suppose that it's when you find out you need it (like now) that you learn. In the future, perhaps the game will "officially" include the possibility to use SumoForum as a backup... I don't think, however that the TRIO Kyokai wants to abandon the forum-based nature of this game, it's supposed to be part of its identity and some people like it that way. I wasn't being clever-as the current Champion, I felt a responsibility to make a statement!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> [clever mode]Politics on this forum are a no-no, sir.[/clever mode] :-P

Then let's say some of the more "clever" players do take it quite seriously... I wasn't thinking..And I am a moderator too..Although, one may argue, it was not a political statement, more an environmental one. furanohana 3 Posted September 23, 2005 I agree with Kintamayama : the TRIO Kyokai should have thought of a backup solution. Are they stupid for having not been prepared ? Hey, wait ! I'm the TRIO Kyokai ! Hummm.... OK, I should have thought of a backup solution... On my defense, the situation is much more easier for english speaking games, as there is the game site, and if the game site is down, there is sumoforum and the mailing list. With these two tools, it's possible to reach almost every players. The difficulty for TRIO is that it's based on info-sumo.net, and that the majority of its members aren't member of sumoforum, and have not subscribed to the SML. The consequence is that, of course, some of the players will think of checking here or on the SML, but that too many won't. If nobody here disagree with that, I'll add in the TRIO rules that in case of a breakdown of info-sumo.net, all entries will be made on sumoforum.net. The players will then be responsible for thinking of checking up here if they can't reach info-sumo.net . That way, it'll be possible to continue the game. For this basho, however, as nothing had been prepared, I'll have to cancel all days until info-sumo is back up and running. Don't think I like that... As someone very found of sumo games, having to cancel a few days of TRIO is a nightmare for me ! (another solution would be to change a bit TRIO, and base it on a web site where everybody would put their entries in, like for ISP or other games ; in that case, info-sumo would a discussion - results place for the game, and the official back-up solution. but for that, i have first to learn how to make something in PHP or ASP...) Sakana 46 Posted September 23, 2005 (edited) next time I'll offer my mail as "manual enter picks" if site gets down, is that ok ? (Whistling...) Edited September 23, 2005 by Sakana
Azumashida 1 Posted September 23, 2005 Info-sumo.net is back up... (so no backup needed?)
Doitsuyama 1,173 Posted September 23, 2005 (edited) German Tippspiel is similar in some ways. Administrator has all email addresses of registered members and can send out email letter in case of breakdown, giving directions for backup etc. This has been done in the past, like right before this basho. Trio Kyokai better should have such an email address group ready. Edited September 23, 2005 by Doitsuyama

I think the game should definitely remain on info-sumo and keep its French identity. Where else can I try to be funny in French?? Don't change that.. It is an excellent idea to add the SF as a backup in case of failure as a rule. Well, it seems up now, so good luck to all! Edit: As if it's not enough I have Doitsuyama as my eternal rival in the games, he posts almost the same thing at the same time.. AAARGHHH!!
