Jan 0 Posted September 6, 2005 (Hugging...) This pic is the New Year one from the official site, here is a translation of the interview that went with it. On the front page of the official site there are pics of the recent trip to Mongolia. Definately worth a look. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Happy New Year. Oyakata hopes he will make Shikoroyama stable better along with everyone. One year has flown since Shikoroyama-oyakata launched his stable. In the previous Kyushu basho last November, every Shikoroyama rikishi made a good result and they moved one step forward. Shikoroyama-oyakata talks about his impressions of last year and new year resolutions. Q: The Kyusyu basho was over and 2004 has passed. How was the year 2004 for you? Oyakata: Well, at first we finally had Shikoroyama-beya launched in January, so all in all, it was a hectic year for me. Q: In a series of events last year, do you think that Yamamoto and Tamada did especially well was one of impressive things? Oyakata: I haven't cared much about wins and losses yet, still I'm glad that the rest of others did their best as well as Yamamoto and Tamada. Looking at the total result of each member per basho, we haven't made even one makekoshi basho so far. I hope we keep this good condition and aim to step further. Q: Yamamoto got his new fighting name after Senshuraku of November 2004. Do you think he should get promoted to Makushita ranking? Oyakata: I think so. He made 7 perfect winning. It should be valued. Q: When he appeared as a finalist in a big crowd, encouragement for him from the audiences was enormous, wasn't it? Oyakata: When I heard the name of our yobidashi and Shikoroyama-beya being announced in such a big crowd, it made me nervous. (laugh)
