Do you like forum-based games?

I don't like them, because I don't have enough time to be attentive these games. (Being thrown tomatoes at...)

I like Banzuke surfing and Guess the Yusho Winners very much because they focus on the lower divisions and because they are pre-basho games.

Since they are pre-basho, it doesn't matter that they don't have daily updated and interactive websites. Oshirokita has a serviceable site for his game where results are sporadically available but the updates that appear on the forum are good enough for me.

I wish there were a Makushita game similar to the juryo game. I'll keep mentioning it until someone produces one. Perhaps one day I'll even have time to do it but for now, I can't even produce the meta-benchsumo game as I wanted to.

I'm not sure if I understand the question.

I like forum-based games because I like all them games.

Is the dislike related to the nature of those games being played in forums, i.e. would every game meet your dislike if it were played in a forum?

Or is the dislike related to the particular forum-based games (Tippspiel on the German forum; TRIO on the French Forum; Mole in the Hole, Banzuke Surfing and Guess the Kotomitsuki on this forum)?

What makes a forum-based game more difficult to be attentive to? Time costs (Mole in the Hole as being a daily game), covering marginal topics (Banzuke Surfing), non-daily updates, or (due to fewer participants) being excluded of the "real meat" (SuperBanzuke)?

i love them ...

i wish Troll Game would be more automated but still one of my favourites to play every day .....

Guess the Kotomitsuki is one of the best games ever (maybe because i won the yusho once ... (Whistling...) )

Banzuke Surfing is effortless for me and that's why i totally suck ... but i like looking for my rikishi in the lower division results every other day ...

the rest of the bunch i don't play but i surely don't hate them.

and i am still waiting for "guess the Kaio" to come back and defend my title !!!!

I'm too lazy to play forum based games, so I voted dislike, even tho I have nothing against the games in question. I just choose not to play them.

What Naifuzan said. Somehow they seem to require more effort, so I'm less likely to try. And I don't like huge threads they generate... But they are mostly easier to set up (and run?) for the creators, and the feedback is easy. So in that way they're good.

I like them, but I doubt I'll do gyoji-ing for Troll game again soon, until I get it a bit more automated.

Not particularly, especially if they have Wednesday deadlines, which I traditionally find to be an outrage and completely (Censored) ... :-D

But, they are SUMO GAMES, and with me, you all know what that means (Sigh...)

Furthermore, they are better than email-based games (Bleh!)

Cheers

Neither like nor dislike. I am not a gamer. I find myself away from a computer far too much to be able to give them the attention they deserve.

I don't have a problem with the games themselves, but I wish at least one of them would be moved off forum (or be given its own sub-forum).

i take it you are joking here?

Of course i am joking about wanting to defend my title but the game existed if you meant that ...

... Kaikitsune run the "Guess the Kaio" back in Aki 2004 ...

i know its my game you mean here. the nature of the question dictated the deadline (which you missed). its not there just to annoy people.

The nature of your game, as you call it, demands a deadline prior to knowing the day 1 and 2 Makuuchi pairings. I'm sure Zenjimoto agrees with that. The thing is, those pairings are published on Friday, which sure let's Wednesday look like an outrage. I agree with Zenjimoto here.

Make it quirk if you like. Look, your's isn't the only Sumogame under the sun to put it this way. So it surely is unusual to have a deadline MUCH earlier then even Bench Sumo.

Stop bashing on poor Nishinoshima! (Nodding yes...)

There's the German 'Guess the result' (another forum-based game) which has the deadline on wednesday as well, long before 'Guess the Kotomitsuki' came alive. It's seems to be a tradition of all the 'Guess the ...' games to have an early deadline.

(Just look at GTB!) (Bleh!)

as inventor of this game i think zenjimoto referred to GTR as he is known for missing this deadline.....the reason it has this deadline is that i wanted to limit the number of edited posts after the announcement of kyujos (especially for ozeki usually done on thursday)....the rules state that a playoff is won by the earlier entry and lots of editing would make it hard to follow who was first......

but back to topic: i rather like forum based games as long as there are comments....for german tipspiel i like to read comments why someone picke a certain rikishi....this is quite entertaining and i can learn totally different views on rikishi.....it's all about communication.....

I like all sumo games but like others have said I prefer fully automated site based games for 2 main reasons-

1 Laziness

2 Its nicer to read and see how well or badly your doing.
